About This Listing
With candlelight, a cushy bed and Aretha's very own recipes in the kitchen, we'll make you feel like a well-rested human!
Rock steady in our brand-new BNB less than a mile from legendary Sun Studio! You'll get your own royally-appointed room inspired by the Queen of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin.
Our 3200-square-foot mansion for music lovers is equipped with two bathrooms, four bedrooms, an enormous kitchen, a miniature ballroom...and a porch just perfect for sitting and strumming a guitar :)
Did I mention we've got our very own parking lot, too?
Like an unfinished symphony, the place is still in progress, mind you - we could use lots of suggestions and ideas for making it into a true paradise for the phonically-inclined!
But we promise to treat you like a VIP while you're here...because you are one, to us :) Expect a fresh-made breakfast and freshly-laundered sheets, for starters, and nonstop Southern hospitality through-and-through: we'll give you tons of pointers on the coolest places to visit and the juiciest BBQ around.
Isn't this music to your ears, y'all?

Interaction with Guests
I live on-site and would love to be there to greet you and guide you in your stay, when I'm not off at my community garden nearby!
The neighborhood can be hard to find, for some, but we think it's a total gem - not downtown proper, so parking is a cinch, but within walking distance of most of the epic sites like Sun Studio and Stax. The street is quiet and surrounded by local nonprofits like the Memphis Interfaith Association and the Memphis Food Bank. We'd love to do a voluntour, if you're interested in giving back while you're here!
We know you're going places and we love to help you get around! We've got tons of on-site parking for the drivers out there. If you're on foot, the house is within a few blocks of eight different bus lines, 1.5 miles from downtown, 0.4 miles from the trolley and just a short ways to catch the free shuttle to Graceland from Sun Studio! We also highly recommend Lyft and Uber. To get here from the airport, you can take a taxi for $25 or try out the bus for $1.75. The schedule can be found by searching for MATA or using (website hidden) Maps (though it won't list Route 2, which is the most direct if you don't mind walking a bit!)
Other Things to Note
PLEASE, oh please bear with us, as this dear old house is over 100 YEARS OLD. My wonderful friend Andy is my partner in crime as an innkeeper, and we're still getting the hang of things. One day we hope to turn the house into a nonprofit center, so any support you give us gets us closer to changing this city for the better!
Smoking is completely cool outside on our spacious front and back porches and pets are allowed, as long as they're cuddly and you clean up after them if they have accidents ^_~
The accommodations were sparse but comfortable. Jamie was very helpful with suggestions of where to go to be a local and not just the touristy stuff. Breakfast was prepared each morning and I have food allergies and Jamie tried to make sure there was something I could eat too. Coffee was part of the morning gathering of the guests and I also had an opportunity to meet the other guests which was a fun part of the experience too. I felt safe in the neighborhood too. Good experience and I'm glad I could spend more money on Beale Street instead of paying too much for accommodations. 3 stars for the accomodations, 5 stars for the expereince!
Awesome house and incredible nice host. Jamie was very welcoming and totally understands the needs of being a tourist. Me and my dad stayed in one room and she immediately provided a second sheet. You can walk to Beale Street (30-45 minutes) or take a taxi (8-15 dollar).
If you ever wondered how it would be to stay in a colourful and exciting place, book a room in Jamie's wonderland.
Jamie's home is very cozy. Each room is decorated individually. The kitchen and living rooms (yes multiple) are always open and inviting. There is also breakfast available (cereals, muffins, or something Jamie makes like fruit salad or eggs). Jamie was also helpful with tips on restaurants etc. Really enjoyed my stay in Memphis!
It was great, Jamie is a wonderful host and the house is totally charming. It was great to stay in a more residential part of Memphis and get a feel of what it's like to actually live there.
Jamie's house was wonderful! She was very accommodating, she left Hershey's kisses on our pillows and made a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Her dog was also really sweet.
We had a fantastic experience! Jamie is very cordial and gives you your privacy. The house is really clean and has a cool ambiance. And her pup Choo-Choo is a real joy to have around!

About the Host, Jamie
I once sat on a poisonous caterpillar. So if you are a poisonous caterpillar, I'd watch yourself around me. Otherwise, I'm a big goof and love to fuss over people :)
