About This Listing
With candlelight, a cushy bed and Aretha's very own recipes in the kitchen, we'll make you feel like a well-rested human!
Rock steady in our brand-new BNB less than a mile from legendary Sun Studio! You'll get your own royally-appointed room inspired by the Queen of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin.

Interaction with Guests
I live on-site and would love to be there to greet you and guide you in your stay, when I'm not off at my community garden nearby!
The neighborhood can be hard to find, for some, but we think it's a total gem - not downtown proper, so parking is a cinch, but within walking distance of most of the epic sites like Sun Studio and Stax. The street is quiet and surrounded by local nonprofits like the Memphis Interfaith Association and the Memphis Food Bank. We'd love to do a voluntour, if you're interested in giving back while you're here!
We know you're going places and we love to help you get around! We've got tons of on-site parking for the drivers out there. If you're on foot, the house is within a few blocks of eight different bus lines, 1.5 miles from downtown, 0.4 miles from the trolley and just a short ways to catch the free shuttle to Graceland from Sun Studio! We also highly recommend Lyft and Uber. To get here from the airport, you can take a taxi for $25 or try out the bus for $1.75. The schedule can be found by searching for MATA or using (website hidden) Maps (though it won't list Route 2, which is the most direct if you don't mind walking a bit!)
Other Things to Note
PLEASE, oh please bear with us, as this dear old house is over 100 YEARS OLD. My wonderful friend Andy is my partner in crime as an innkeeper, and we're still getting the hang of things. One day we hope to turn the house into a nonprofit center, so any support you give us gets us closer to changing this city for the better!
Smoking is completely cool outside on our spacious front and back porches and pets are allowed, as long as they're cuddly and you clean up after them if they have accidents ^_~
Jamie's place was fantastic! Even better than the pictures. The house is a great historic southern style. Loved the clawfeet bathtub.
Jamie lives at the house and was very accommodating on our short stay in Memphis. She had great suggestions of things to do and places to eat as well.
We went to Stax records museum which is only about a 5-10 minute drive. Then we took an uber to and from Beale St for our evening. Each ride was under $5. It wouldn't be a bad walk down to Beale (20 minutes or so, and Jamie said it was safe. But I might not want to do it at night.)
The house has a few rooms that share 2 baths.
Overall, it was a great experience. And the best part may have been Jamie's "Al Green" omelettes in the morning (which she got up early to make for us trying to make an early departure!! Thank you Jamie!)
Fantastic again! We'd planned on staying elsewhere but decided to spend the night here after our last experience.
A delightful place to retreat and relax. Jamie is a literal doll, lovely, kind, very bright; a sunbeam. Her beautiful, creatively decorated and comfortably arranged home beckons you to unwind, grab from an eclectic collection of great reads and cozy up in a chair or on the over stuffed couch. She's super respectful of your comfort level, but if you don't mind animals, you'll love her well behaved little pup...Breakfast. Wow, she's quite the homemade chef. A fantastic omelet with homemade doughnuts and fresh fruit. Yum! .. And yea you could pretty much walk right to Beale (but drive, it is Memphis). So just go. You'll thank me.
Jamie was absolutely wonderful! The house is a beautiful two story from the early 1900s and was very warm and inviting. There were thoughtful touches all around the house, and it felt very much like home. In addition to the house, Jamie was very warm and welcoming. Combined with the great location (in terms of how close it was to downtown)- I would absolutely stay there again!
I've stayed with Jamie twice now and have to say that I really enjoy being there. It is a creaky old house, for sure, but she makes all of her guests feel very welcome. I arrived late and left early on my last visit...and never saw, but knew that i would be taken care of. My only regret is that I missed her great breakfast this time around!
Jamie was so accommodating and really makes you feel welcome even if she happens to be out when you arrive. Neighborhood was questionable, but parking off road in the back parking lot/yard was comforting. Walking into this house you feel a warm welcome. Very unique and character filled home. Plenty of info on what todo in Memphis, and consistently themed throughout the home. Good size rooms and I felt like I was there by myself even though there were 4 of us (that I know of, 5 if you count Choo choo) in the house that night. I would have stayed here again, but it was booked:( thanks Jamie for the hospitality!
This was my first AirB&B experience and it was fantastic. Jamie is a registered bad-ass and the house was super cool. Memphis was supposed to be just a stopping point on our vacation and it was by far the best part! :) Jamie made us an amazing breakfast and had a ton of helpful tips of the town. Her dog, Choochoo, was a little sweetheart and perfect playmate. The house was awesome and located really close to everything we wanted to do. The Civil Rights Museum is definitely a must see and Gus's was the best lunch I've ever had. I would definitely recommend Jamie's and will stay there again next time I'm in Memphis. Thank you for everything! :)
