About this listing
With candlelight, a cushy bed and Aretha's very own recipes in the kitchen, we'll make you feel like a well-rested human!
Rock steady in our brand-new BNB less than a mile from legendary Sun Studio! You'll get your own royally-appointed room inspired by the Queen of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin.
Our 3200-square-foot mansion for music lovers is equipped with two bathrooms, four bedrooms, an enormous kitchen, a miniature ballroom...and a porch just perfect for sitting and strumming a guitar :)
Did I mention we've got our very own parking lot, too?
Like an unfinished symphony, the place is still in progress, mind you - we could use lots of suggestions and ideas for making it into a true paradise for the phonically-inclined!
But we promise to treat you like a VIP while you're here...because you are one, to us :) Expect a fresh-made breakfast and freshly-laundered sheets, for starters, and nonstop Southern hospitality through-and-through: we'll give you tons of pointers on the coolest places to visit and the juiciest BBQ around.
Isn't this music to your ears, y'all?

Interaction with Guests
I live on-site and would love to be there to greet you and guide you in your stay, when I'm not off at my community garden nearby!
The neighborhood can be hard to find, for some, but we think it's a total gem - not downtown proper, so parking is a cinch, but within walking distance of most of the epic sites like Sun Studio and Stax. The street is quiet and surrounded by local nonprofits like the Memphis Interfaith Association and the Memphis Food Bank. We'd love to do a voluntour, if you're interested in giving back while you're here!
We know you're going places and we love to help you get around! We've got tons of on-site parking for the drivers out there. If you're on foot, the house is within a few blocks of eight different bus lines, 1.5 miles from downtown, 0.4 miles from the trolley and just a short ways to catch the free shuttle to Graceland from Sun Studio! We also highly recommend Lyft and Uber. To get here from the airport, you can take a taxi for $25 or try out the bus for $1.75. The schedule can be found by searching for MATA or using (website hidden) Maps (though it won't list Route 2, which is the most direct if you don't mind walking a bit!)
Other Things to Note
PLEASE, oh please bear with us, as this dear old house is over 100 YEARS OLD. My wonderful friend Andy is my partner in crime as an innkeeper, and we're still getting the hang of things. One day we hope to turn the house into a nonprofit center, so any support you give us gets us closer to changing this city for the better!
Smoking is completely cool outside on our spacious front and back porches and pets are allowed, as long as they're cuddly and you clean up after them if they have accidents ^_~
This was our first time using Airbnb and we loved it! Jamie was such a kind host and had delicious muffins waiting for us downstairs at breakfast. And her dog Choo Choo was so cute! Her beautiful soul shows through in the character of her hundred year old mansion just a quick daylight walk from Beale Street.
Jamie's home is an eclectic, fun taste of Memphis. I enjoyed my very brief stop-over and slept well in a quiet, comfortable, and cool room. The neighborhood was a little more rundown than I expected, but there were no problems.
Jamie was an incredible host. We felt right at home with her! Her home is just fantastic. Extremely quirky with so much personality, perfect for Memphis. Her home is in a great location to some really great spots in the city. If you stay with her, try and request the Al Green omelet for breakfast! The woman knows what she's doing.
Convenient, close to Beale St., nice and kind host. I stayed here one night and would do that again if in Memphis again.
Staying at Jamie's place was great! I was in a hurry to find a room for the night and she was quick to respond to my request. Having spent 10 hours driving that day it was nice to walk through the front door and feel instantaneously welcomed.
The next morning I met Jamie who was making breakfast in the kitchen and had some great conversations. I would recommend this place to anyone stopping in Memphis. I plan on staying there in the future.
Jaime was very friendly and an excellent communicator. The room was clean an the bed comfortable. The old house is definately a project. There was no mention of breakfast and I didn't ask. Overall satisfied.

About the Host, Jamie
I once sat on a poisonous caterpillar. So if you are a poisonous caterpillar, I'd watch yourself around me. Otherwise, I'm a big goof and love to fuss over people :)
