3 Quiet Acres, near Memorial Park

House - Private room · Bingle Rd, Houston, TX 77055, United States

The Space

We have four listings at our home. All listings share high speed wireless AT&T U-verse internet service. This listing is the master bedroom, with its own private bath.

The Property
Our home is on 3 acres in central Houston, just 10 minutes from Memorial Park and 12 minutes to the Galleria, with lots of trees and a ravine running along the property. We're just off of I-10 with easy access to the Galleria and to Downtown.

Our neighbor is a small, quiet church. The home is tucked behind the church property, down a long driveway. People are always happily surprised to discover our home. It's wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The only noise is the typical city freeway hum from I-10 and occasional noise from the Dad's Club swim club nearby.

The house is a simple ranch style home, built in the 1970's. It hasn't been updated but is perfect for people who don't mind an old style home, with a bit of character. We decided to keep the cost of the room low, instead of upgrading the place, especially since the property itself is what is unique about our home.

The Room
The master bedroom is big, with its own bathroom, large windows, and a study! King size bed. Small sofa. It's like having your own apartment in the house, with a shared kitchen and laundry.

Breakfast
The kitchen and the refrigerator are yours to use. A coffee-maker is available if you want to make yourself some coffee or tea.

Pets
No pets. I love animals but I find it is a bit too difficult to manage having pets, in part because some people are unfortunately allergic to animal dander.

I hope you'll come join us for a couple of nights or more!

  • Great, as always.

  • Everything just as described. The room is quite large actually and the study room is very nice.

    August 2013
  • Wonderful host, greet accommodation. Exactly as advertised. You need a car or a good pair of legs if you plan to use the bus.

    May 2013
  • Blake is a very friendly host and we had some good conversations. He makes you feel right at home.

The room is very spacious and private - you have a huge shelf of books, another smaller library room that is attached, two closets and a washroom.

I wish I could have spent more time perusing the library and backyard here! It was a very unique location that is also conveniently located next to the I10 highway and is 10-20 minutes away from most of the places you might want to go in Houston.

The place is a bit hard to find but Blake was very helpful with directions and even came out to help me get to his place from the main road.

  • Blake has a great retreat in the busy city of Houston. Four acres of family land less than a mile from the I-10 freeway, but you feel like you are out in the country. While it has a bachelor pad feel, it is clean and comfortable enough for a lady. The master bedroom is great, with its own private study and full bath (w real bathtub, not the shallow modern ones). Blake is an accommodating host, who is very friendly but not overly so... I plan to stay here again.

    October 2012
  • Blake's home is an Oasis in the city Jungle. I was very pleased with the place.

    October 2012
  • I stayed in Blake's large, master suite for one week, which truly was an "oasis" for me while I was in town to help my elderly parents. I returned each night to a quiet, private space after long days of caregiving and driving around Houston running errands. It's perfect for anyone who needs to be in town for a dedicated work/family purpose and prefers a home setting.
The king bed in the suite is quite comfortable, and the large room would be great for anyone with a daily yoga practice! No TV, but easy internet access. It's a casual house, so best suited for easy-going guests who don't mind older homes. Thanks, Blake.

    October 2012
  • This was a great place to stay for the purpose of my visit. I had a large room with private bath, tons (I mean tons!) of privacy, and bookcases full of interesting books to peruse. I was sorry not to have the chance to meet Blake who was traveling, but he was as conscientious as I can imagine an out of town host being. It's agood place to stay if you require quiet and are a self sufficient house guest.

    July 2012
  • Beautiful property with a clean and spacious house. Blake is a wonderful guy and I highly recomend staying at his place. The masterbedroom is a must see. Private bathroom and even a private study room. Just had a wonderful experience.

    June 2012
  • Blake is a very nice guy!
I went to Houston and was looking for an alternative to the hotel, and I was very happy to stay at Blake's, mostly for the garden and the good conversation.
The $45 room is a very good value; it is a small comfy room with a bathroom and a closet. It has a separate entrance and I spent most of my time outside the room, so its small size was not a problem for me.

About
I love AirBnB! Hosting people with AirBnB reminds me of the years I lived in Austin, Texas where I owned a few properties and I rented out the rooms to students. I love meeting new, interesting, friendly people and offering them a great, simple place to stay. I've moved back to Houston and am living again in my childhood home, which is next to this great ravine where I used to play as a kid. It seemed a shame to have this big house all to myself so I got excited about the idea of sharing it with others through AirBnB. The property is very unique. More about me: I shifted careers a couple years ago and became a Montessori adolescent teacher. Adolescent teaching positions aren't widely available so I'm working with elementary students, which is a lot of fun. Hope to see you soon!
