This is my cozy, sunny one bedroom in New York's very hip East Village neighborhood. I love this neighborhood and the apartment is very close to the best of it - within minutes is Thompkins Square park, laundry, tons of restaurants, bars and shopping. I rent this out when I travel for work.
This apartment is classic East Village - meaning you get a tree-lined block, friendly neighbors but it's also a fourth floor walk-up in an old-school East Village buiding. This apartment is not for the faint of legs or breath! A bit about the apartment itself:
The living room is sunny and cozy and the ceilings are double high, giving it a very airy, loft-like feel. There's no TV, but it has wireless network that connects to a surround-sound speaker set-up. In addition, the apartment has a projector that you can connect your computer to and stream content from the Internet onto the wall that's left blank for that purpose in the living room and also there's a wall on the roof that you can project to from the private roof deck.
The apartment has a private roof deck that's accessible only from the apartment itself. Pics will be coming soon as I'm currently resetting it for this summer, but it's truly lovely and is set up with plants, a table that seats 4-6 and a grill.
I use my kitchen a lot and therefore have plenty of cookware and dishes. There's a dishwasher as well as a full-size gas stove.
The bathroom has a full tub and a shower with great water pressure (not always a given in NYC apartments).
And the bedroom - my solace. I've lived in a lot of apartments in NYC and the reason I love this one is because at night the bedroom is quiet. It's at the back of the building and overlooks a very large tree and a playground. During the school year, the kids are in the playground from 8am onwards so there is some noise there, but during the night it's very quiet. I also have black-out curtains to make the bedroom particularly cave-like.
I've lived in about 15 places in NYC and this one is my favorite. It's a real gem of a place.

Heidi's apartment made us feel right at home in NY! It was clean, stylish and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The roof terrace was perfect for eating breakfast in the morning sun and pizza with a bottle of wine as the sun went down. The location couldn't have been better as we appreciated the calm street, closeness to fantastic shops and restaurants (heidi's recommendations) and the subway straight over to Brooklyn.
We would definitely want to stay here again during our next NY stay.
Thank you Heidi!
We had a wonderful stay at Heidi's. The appartment is well situated in a quiet street a few minutes walk from the L train. Heidi's appartment is well furnished, spacious and stylish. The place was very clean. And it is just fantastic to lie in a chair on the private roof after a day walking in NYC !
Heidi sent the keys several weeks in advance so we didn't have to worry about the arrival. She was prompt to answer our questions before and during our stay.
I definitely recommend this appartment.
Heidi is a great host! We had an amazing stay in NYC.
The location is perfect: quiet neighborhood, only 10 min walk to the Subway L-line, lot of excellent restaurants and bars / pubs less than 5 min walk.
The apartment is fantastic: top floor of a building in East Village with a private roof top (great to rest after an harassing day in the City), quiet, well decorated (this apartment has a "soul") and well equipped kitchen.
Heidi is really nice, she recommended us some real great "typical East-Village" restaurants and coffee shops.
Thank you again Heidi!
Heidi was the perfect host! She sent us the keys in advance and made everything as easy and convinient for us as possible. The apartment is amazing! It is spacious, with a fantastic private terrace on the roof, and located in a great neighborhood.
We really enjoyed Heidi's generous hospitality and would warmly recommend her and her apartment to everybody!
