Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
This cozy apartment is just across the bridge from downtown Knoxville! With the exposed brick and hardwood floors, you sense the charm of an old house but have the modern conveniences of a new kitchen and bath. It comfortably sleeps 2- but there's a comfy large couch that can accommodate one more.

The space
It comfortably sleeps 2 in a queen-size bed, but with the large couch- you CAN accommodate 3. Please keep in mind, that it's a studio apartment so the space is all open. If you have 3 people, you'll be in close quarters! There is an additional $30 fee, (per night) if there is a third guest. No more than 3 guests total - this is a strict policy, no exceptions will be made.

The bathroom is newly remodeled and fits the ambiance of the rest of the apartment. It’s cozy, (very small), with a clean white tile shower instead of a bathtub.

THERE IS NO TELEVISION. Why the big declaration, you say? Recently several guests noted that they expected a TV. I want to make sure this detail is not overlooked. If you would like to stream movies or work the wifi is super fast. There’s also a receiver with a cassette player and radio along with a zippy selection of cassette tapes. The record player is currently beingrepaired.

Guest access
There is a fire pit in the backyard, which you're welcome to use. Roast some marshmallows!

The apartment is a triplex, the front porch is off-limits as it is the entrance to the third unit upstairs. But you do have full access to a lovely back deck where you enter your apartment.

The entrance is around the back, the door on the left-hand side with a light green curtain in the door window.

Other things to note
NO SMOKING OR VAPING inside, no pets, and no parties, please. Guests that break these rules will have their security deposit processed and may be held accountable for further fees based on damage.

There is a train track behind the house, but I have only seen the train twice and at very reasonable hours! It shouldn't disturb you- if it does, you have impeccable timing and should consider it good luck. (like finding a four-leaf clover...or seeing a unicorn).

Neighborhood highlights

This location is a short drive or bike ride from Ijams Nature Center and the quarry, not to mention half a mile from downtown! South Knoxville is a perfect way to feel like you're outside the city but still have immediate access. The neighborhood is rugged and the backyard doesn't have the most beautiful view, but the fire pit and the convenience of getting around downtown make up for the not-so-scenic yard.

LOCAL FLAVOR

BREAKFAST/LUNCH
POTCHKE is a must. A Kosher-style deli with outstanding food and a wonderful atmosphere. Babkas, bialys, blintzes, borscht...plus excellent coffee and an incredible pastrami sandwich.

PAYSAN BREAD & BAGELS
Best bagels in town. REMEDY coffee next door.

DRINKS
The PUBLIC HOUSE has a knowledgeable staff with the sweetest back patio in town. Try something from the local selection of spirits and beer or get a cocktail. From classics to a seasonal cocktail menu of their design, there’s something for everyone.

TERN CLUB has a unique, cozy, tiki-inspired atmosphere, a great backyard, and some of the best cocktails in town.

COFFEE
Knoxville has great coffee!

HONEYBEE Coffee has super coffee and a great selection of beer and it’s only two blocks away! It’s perfect if you're looking for a coffee shop to sit and read or work.

OLD CITY JAVA is a short drive away and has delicious coffee, pastries, and ambience.

REMEDY is a little further north (but not by much) and is my go-to if you’re in that area.

This is a short list of my current favorites. All of these spots close...within two miles of the house. If you'd like to see more recommendations check out my guidebook. I try to edit/add to it frequently. If there's something specific you're looking for, shoot me a message!
