We had a great time at the house! It was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. There was plenty of space and we absolutely loved the outside space. The house is not too far from the wineries, which makes it the perfect little getaway. We're hoping to come back next year!
Krystal, thank you for the opportunity to stay at your house. The listing was accurate, house has a lot of charm. Even though it's dated it's very clean. The yard was amazing with a huge deck filled with many chairs and a large table- a lot of space to entertain. Our kids loved the grassy yard, they even tried some raking. The 4 bedrooms are decent size. The kitchen was very roomy , plus it had it all ( utensils, plates, coffee maker, pots, wine opener, and wine glasses). Krystal was always a phone call away, we felt very welcomed. We enjoyed our Saturday night grilling and sitting by the fire pit. The only problem was the mosquitoes- omg, we had all different kinds of bug sprays, but nothing could stop them... We also had a friendly racoon entertain with us all Saturday night. Also, we loved that the deck had gates- perfect for families with little kids like us.The next day we spent at the beach in St Joseph, which is about 30minutes away. When we came home, there was no power in the house. It quickly came out that the entire area was with no power. Some neighbors had their generators on. I called Krystal to check if there was anything we could do to fix the problem. Unfortunately, the electric company wasn't able to restore the power and the house didn't have a generator. Upon discussing it with Krystal, we decided to pack our belongings and return home. At that time, there was no water or power in the house. Krystal was very understanding and she offered us a refund. Although, our stay was shortened by the unpredictable weather, we enjoyed it a lot. We would definitely come back. Thank you Krystal!
I rented Krystal's rustic house for a bachelorette party weekend, with 6 girls total. It was a no brainer since Krystal is one of the few rental properties in Michigan that rents by the day, rather than for the whole week. We loved how much space there was at the home and how private it was. There are 4 bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed and an air conditioner. The living room had enough seating for us all to sit in at the same time and there was cable TV. The dining room table seated us all as did the patio table, and there were extra lawn chairs to set up where ever you wanted. We grilled out the first night on Krystal's propane grill and made s'mores at the fire pit (wood was included). The second day, we drove into town for lunch at the Bucktown Tap, got ice cream at The Sweet Shop, and stocked up on snacks with a visit to RiteAid. For dinner that night we ordered pizza from Milano's. We also took a brief walk along the trail behind Krystal's property and carved our names, and the names of our lovers, into the beautiful tree the sits at the beginning of the path.
Since I grew up in Chicago, I'm not comfortable with camping in a tent or not having access to basic necessities. Krystal's house was the perfect balance of rustic yet comfortable for this big city gal!
Tips: I would recommend bringing your own grilling utensils (and cutting board) if you plan on using the grill. Also, the amount of mosquitoes is insane so bring lots of bug spray and citronella candles. Although there were easily enough plates, there's no dishwasher, so if you hate washing dishes, bring disposable utensils instead. Also there's no wifi. Those of us who have verizon had no problem with our reception but girls with the other carriers did. The last good thing to know is that there is no lake or river that is accessible directly near Krystal's home.
Overall, Krystal's home was clean, private, and easily accommodated 6 women comfortably. She was easy to work with and responded quickly to my questions during our stay. We all had a lovely weekend away from the big city!
Awesome experience! Krystal's house is in a fantastic location in Michigan. It provided the perfect setting for my family to enjoy time together away from outside distractions. Everything was as Krystal depicted in the description and very well kept. Krystal's husband also followed up via phone to ensure we had everything that we needed and to see if we had any questions. Overall, this was a wonderful stay and we would certainly return!
The owner met us and went over the property inside and out so we knew where things were. The pictures on line were exactly what we saw.
We had 6 adults...were meeting in a central place for Mother's Day. When we arrived a storm was apparent. The rain continued ....thus we got out all the snacks we brought and sat around the large kitchen table. It was an awesome time to visit with our daughters....in am we drove into Berrian Springs and visited Hoppers for a fine breakfast.
We returned and packed our things and headed out in 3 directions.
Thanks Scott and Krystal. The place is super cute and although we were unable to explore the trails or sit outside on the deck ...it was still tbe just what we needed for a quick visit.
The house was just as it was described! The place was clean and the rooms were comfortable. The kitchen was big enough for all 8 of us to hang out, but we were more interested in the awesome fire pit. The trail behind the house is gorgeous, but go before it gets dark, because it gets DARK. There was plenty of space in the house for 8 people to sleep and move about comfortably, and even a second 1/2 bath in the kitchen, which was nice.
There was literally so much more space than we expected! We made meals together in the kitchen, all sat around and ate on the back deck, and then cozied up to the fire in the evening. It was a perfect weekend retreat!
NOTE TO OUT OF TOWNERS: If you are not used to rural tap water, make sure you buy bottled water to bring with! There is a definite mineral smell to the water which is offputting if you aren't used to it. We bought some water and were totally fine. There's a HUGE fridge to keep it cool. Also, cell phone service is a little sketchy depending on your carrier.
