Interaction with Guests
My work schedule varies from week to week. I'm a musician, teacher, and audio engineer - I’m usually out working during the day, but occasionally work on projects or teach music lessons at home in the afternoons. I’m always available by phone or text message if you need something. I love getting to know my guests and enjoy having travelers in my home.
My place is located in Brooklyn’s diverse, multicultural and bustling neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, an eclectic area that is quickly becoming the go-to neighborhood of Brooklyn.
You’ll be right by the C local train at Kingston-Throop Ave, which will take you to lower Manhattan in 15 minutes and to midtown (areas like Times Square and Central Park) in 25-30 minutes.
The neighborhood is well-lit and safe to walk around at all times.
On my block, there is a café, a pharmacy, a large supermarket, two laundromats, a fruit and vegetable market, a healthcare center, 24/7 convenience stores, a liquor store, among other restaurants, and a variety of shops There is also a park directly behind the apartment.
It’s a short walk to trendy bars, cafés, and restaurants, shopping, as well as a large supermarket with an ample organic selection.
Additionally, it’s a quick bus or train ride to Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Bridge, Barclay’s Center (home of the Brooklyn Nets) and to the Willamsburg, Fort Greene, and Downtown Brooklyn neighborhoods.
The apartment is right next to the C train at Kingston-Throop Avenue. The C train will take you to lower Manhattan in 15 minutes and to Midtown with areas like Times Square and Columbus Circle (Central Park) in 25-30 minutes.
Both JFK and LaGuardia airports are about 20 minutes away via cab, depending on traffic (it usually costs around $30). These airports can also be reached via public transportation, which takes about an hour.
It’s also a 6 minute walk to the A express train at Nostrand Ave and a 12 minute walk or a quick bus ride to the 3 train at Kingston Ave.
The B25 and B43 bus stops right in front of my building, taking you to Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn, and Williamsburg.
There is plenty of free parking around the building.
Other Things to Note
There is no elevator. If you are concerned about carrying your luggage up or down the stairs (there are three flights), we're more than happy to help - we have lots of practice. :)
-Take off your shoes at the door (you're welcome to leave your shoes there).
-No food or drinks in the music room, particularly around the piano.
Summer was a great host. Her place was very nice and very clean and tidy. I can absolute recommend this lovely spot to everyone.
Our stay at summer's was awesome, we had a great time while we visit new york. The apartment is great, near to everything (including the JFK) also very clean and confortable. We had the opportunity to enjoy the best of the city, its food, the people and also its great infrastructure. We hope we can come back soon and obviously it will be at summer's place. Thanks again for everithing!
Summer's place is as depicted in the pictures: clean and cozy with a homey feeling. It is conveniently located right above the C-line subway station, which was a quick 30-min subway ride from Port Authority (we took the Greyhound to NYC). We didn't get to interact with Summer too much since we were out exploring the city, but she would always ask us how was our day/trip when she saw us. On our last day, she even gave us a little souvenir.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Summer's place and she prepared everything we possibly needed (e.g. made space in the fridge, have breakfast and coffee available, a guest handbook with restaurant recommendations and transit instructions, a fan for hot days, one-time use eye mask and ear plugs, additional blankets/pillows, maps and travel guide...etc.) I would recommend this place to others.
We stayed at Summer's apartment one week and it was just perfect. Summer is an awesome host and she gave us a warm welcome when we arrived after a long 24 hour trip. The communication was always (before and during our stay) great. She answered very quickly to my messages and gave us great suggestions for NY. She did everything that we felt comfortable. Summer even gave us a present when left. The apartment is exactly as shown on the pics. It's clean and very cozy. The area is really nice and offers a lot of restaurants and food stores. The subway is just one minute to walk and it takes only around 20 minutes to Manhattan by the subway. I recommend Summer's apartment and would come back to stay there anytime again. We really enjoyed it!
