The Space

My apartment is a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment on the fourth floor of a newly built building. It's located on one of the main avenues of central Brooklyn, surrounded by many different shops and restaurants. It is right next to a major subway line (the C train), as well as several buses.

The guest bed is 47x79 inches (120x200cm) and comfortably sleeps two. The room has plenty of closet space and sunlight, a desk, chair, and lamp.

Accommodations for a third person can be arranged with a memory foam folding floor mattress in the guest room.

You’re more than welcome to use my fully equipped kitchen. Feel free to help yourself to breakfast in the mornings.

Interaction with Guests

The apartment layout allows guests as much privacy as they would like. My work schedule varies from week to week. I'm a musician, teacher, and audio engineer - I’m usually out working, but occasionally work on projects or teach music lessons at home in the afternoons. I’m always available by phone or text message if you need something. I love getting to know my guests and enjoy having travelers in my home.

The Neighborhood

My place is located in Brooklyn’s diverse, multicultural and bustling neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, an eclectic area that is quickly becoming the go-to neighborhood of Brooklyn. There are several parks nearby, and the apartment is on the edge of the Bedford-Stuyvesant historic district, filled with tree-lined streets and Victorian-era architecture.

The neighborhood, called Bed-Stuy by locals, is filled with a variety of restaurants, ranging from French, Caribbean, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, among others.

You’ll be right by the C local train at Kingston-Throop Ave, which will take you to lower Manhattan in 15 minutes and to midtown (areas like Times Square and Central Park) in 25-30 minutes.

The neighborhood is well-lit and safe to walk around at all times. You'll find that there are people out and about 24/7, and many shops are open late at night.

On my block, there is a café, a pharmacy, a large supermarket, two laundromats, a fruit and vegetable market, a healthcare center, 24/7 convenience stores, a liquor store, among other restaurants, and a variety of shops.

It’s a short walk to trendy bars, cafés, and restaurants, shopping, as well as a large supermarket with an ample organic selection.

Additionally, it’s a quick bus or train ride to Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Bridge, Barclay’s Center (home of the Brooklyn Nets) and to the Willamsburg, Fort Greene, and Downtown Brooklyn neighborhoods.

Getting Around

The apartment is right next to the C train at Kingston-Throop Avenue. The C train will take you to lower Manhattan in 15 minutes and to Midtown with areas like Times Square and Columbus Circle (Central Park) in 25-30 minutes.

Both JFK and LaGuardia airports are about 20 minutes away via cab, depending on traffic (it usually costs around $30). These airports can also be reached via public transportation, which takes about an hour.

It’s also a 6 minute walk to the A express train at Nostrand Ave and a 12 minute walk or a quick bus ride to the 3 train at Kingston Ave.

The B25 and B43 bus stops right in front of my building, taking you to Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn, and Williamsburg.

There is plenty of free parking around the building.

Other Things to Note

There is no elevator. If you are concerned about carrying your luggage up or down the stairs (there are three flights), we're more than happy to help - we have lots of practice. :)
