Welcome to The Betty Jo! Tucked away on a quiet street in the Ridge Avenue Historic District, this light and spacious cottage is newly rehabbed and ready for guests. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and centrally located a short walk from the historic downtown and river greenbelt, The Betty Jo is a peaceful retreat close to the action.

The space
Inside, find comfortable beds and furnishings, a fully appointed kitchen, lots of natural light with beautiful garden views, classic vintage tiled bath (swoon!), laundry facilities, Wifi, and Smart TV with Netflix. The house is a classic, but the finishes are fresh and the mechanical and electrical systems are modern and updated.

Kick back with a book, play games or spin some vinyl on the old Magnavox. Sip your morning coffee and wake up with the gardens. Nap in a hammock, grill, wine and dine out back under a canopy of trees. Whether you day trip to the mountains, or enjoy the action in town, you can always retreat for respite and your own gourmet cooking. At The Betty Jo, you can have it all!

Guest access
The main floor is yours, as are the yard and gardens. You are also welcome to use the laundry in the basement. We do use the basement for storage, which we occasionally access through an outside door, maintaining your privacy.

Other things to note
The Betty Jo does not have AC, which is not uncommon for homes in our region. This is a dry climate and the house is surrounded by large shade trees. An eco-friendly German cooling system takes advantage of our cool nights. The house stays comfortable, but not refrigerated.

Location

Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States

Less than a block from The Betty Jo is our favorite small restaurant, Arugula, with scratch local and farm-fresh healthy food. The Museum of Idaho is just around the corner and open seven days a week. The historic downtown cultural district is four blocks away and in full bloom with great indie restaurants, boutiques, theaters, wine shops, galleries, bakeries, salons, and more.

The nearby river greenbelt pathway with its art benches, Saturday Farmer's Market, live concerts and eleven miles of trail, is a big draw. Idaho Brewing Company, the library, several parks, historic churches and the LDS Temple are within easy walking distance.

We provide brochures for a number of self-guided historic walking tours around the area. It's vibrant and safe here. We really couldn't live - and you couldn't stay - in a better location.

Simple things make me happy - old houses, good food and wine, gardens and bicycles. I love libraries and grandchildren, exploring, and meeting people. I am an Idaho native married to a Nebraska flatlander who came west for our mountains. Bill is a chemist and I’m a nurse, now instead following my passion for historic preservation and rehabbing old houses. Airbnb hosting allows us to combine this with travel and welcoming guests - in a quite wonderful way.
