Interaction with Guests
Lots of interaction if you'd like. I love the neighborhood and can let you know all of the cool places that only locals know!
Williamsburg is the center of the NYC creative community, therefore the neighborhood is young and Safe day or night 24 hours. The train also runs 24 hours and my apartment is a 5-8 min walk to a subway. It is one stop away from Manhattan so you will be able to get around the city fast. There lots of restaurant, coffee shops, vintage shops, bars, art and music exhibition all around my apartment. Traveling will be perfectly fine as I host often it would be my pleasure to show you around a some local places if you'd like.
Public transit is fast. J M train is 5 min away and it is one stop to manhattan. L train at Bedford stop is 6 min away and that is one stop to Manhattan. Williamsburg bridge is 3 blocks away. It takes 20 min to time square. 15 min to union square. 5 min to lower east side. 20 min to Wall Street and 15 min to soho.
Clean up after yourself.
Keep it quiet at night.
We stayed with Adam and Mac in March. There were good and bad sides for our stay.
The apartment is in a very good location in Williamsburg. One of the best you can have. Also sharing the apartment with others was also fun as you get to know others.
However on the day of our arrival our sheet had stains on it and also some hair. The room in general was not clean and as it was late and we were tired we had to go to sleep as Mac was asleep and could not help us with it. One more thing. The shared areas such as bathroom, living room and kitchen were way too cold for the duration of our stay. We could not relax and spend time there at all.
I think it is also fair to mention that Mac and Adam are not the actual hosts. Someone else is running the apartment and these guys are staying there for free in order to communicate and accomodate guests.
Great Location. Excellent value. Bathrooms were slightly dirty from other guests but they were cleaned the next day. Overall a hostel feel. They were very helpful with subway directions. Bed was comfortable but oddly squeaky.
This place is great for sleeping and getting around on the subway. There is no Street parking on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 10pm. Bathroom wasn't the cleanest but it depends how the other guests take care of things. Mac was very helpful when I was lost finding the front door.
had an awesome time at Mack's place ! a nice place in a nice location, love Williamsburg. Not too far from the Metro (10 minute walk) and easy access to Downtown Manhattan. Had the chance to meet Mack and he was very nice and kind. I can definitely recommend that place ! Thank you !
Looking for affordable, great New York City listings is tough. Finding one that is comfortable and makes you feel right at home is even harder. We kept this in mind while we searched for a place to stay in the Big Apple.
We thought we found it. Adam and Mac's listing sounded great. The place was not far from the subway station. It was in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants. The hosts even prepared a manual recommending places to visit.
However, one should take every detail on the listing with a pinch of salt. It starts with your room selection. When we arrived, neither of the hosts were at home. We found out that another guest has checked into our room because his was taken up. We were relegated to Room F (one that had a noisy vent, and one that we did not ask for). It isn't entirely anyone's fault but it would be nice to have someone available to clarify things with. But alas.
Basic amenities like Wifi, closet, bed, towels were available as promised. It was a little of a stretch to say that everything else from shampoo, salt to soap were available. Maybe we had to do a little hunting on our own. We did ask for a hairdryer at one point but nah—no one could find it. The electric heater in our room was a boon in the wintry weather, though.
As per other reviews, this listing really does feel a little more like a hostel and living there was fun—the place was always bustling and everyone was very nice. Did we like living in the area? Absolutely. Does the listing deliver its promises? Hmm... Will we come back? Maybe. Are there areas for improvement? Definitely.
If you only need a bed, and a place to leave your belongings without any jazz. Plus, if you don't mind a little squeeze, or dust—book this room right now! However, if you're looking for a "home away from home", let's just say... look elsewhere.
A great cheap and very hostel-like experience. All we needed was already taken care of.

I work in the advertising and entertainment industry. Always like to be on the move, but do love meeting new people and making new friends. Im originally from Hawaii, I love to surf, I wish I was better at photography, and have a horrible love/hate relationship with NYC. My Roommate Mac And I have an amazing apartment in the heart of Williamsburg.
