We are in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood, a short walk from lovely Mt. Scott Park. We are also close to SE Foster Road and the Lents neighborhood. We're just a few blocks from Shango cannabis dispensary, Lion's Eye Tavern, Joy Teriyaki, Cha Lua Deli, Portland Mercado, and so much more.

We are located in Southeast Portland. The house is about 6 miles from downtown Portland. Depending on routes and traffic, it can take 20-30 minutes by car or 30-45 minutes by transit to get downtown.

We are conveniently located near many transportation options, parks, restaurants, and shops, as you'll see in the guidebook. We are Christine and Charles Claringbold, known by our friends as "The Bolds." We've been together since 1991 and we raised two kids in this house. Christine is the artist who does all the psychedelic mandalas. She recently graduated (in June 2019) from Portland State University with degrees in Creative Writing and German. Charles (or Chuck) is the tall punk with all the tattoos. He's the leader of local rock band Dartgun & the Vignettes (Christine is a backup singer) and a student of Roman history at Portland State. And he's an amazing chef! We love camping, hiking, traveling, playing badminton at night with LED shuttlecocks (nightminton, we call it), and decorating our colorful home so we can host awesome guests like you!

During your stay

Charles is a full-time college student and Christine is a self-employed artist who has recently launched a new nonprofit organization. We are busy with studying, volunteering, cooking, cleaning, and making art. We like to play music in the basement and hang out in our backyard when the weather is nice. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen too. We're happy to chat with you and help you with any questions you have about getting around Portland. You may not see us very much, though. We respect our guests' privacy.
