Super séjour dans un cadre fantastique ! Nous étions complètement dépaysé au coeur d'une région superbe.
We had a great time in this cosy, big and clean cottage in the middle of nowhere. We loved to heat the stoves with the self-made turf to make the house even more snugly. The place is the perfect spot to explore the huge private estate or whole connemara with its beautyful rough landscape. Kate and John were very nice and hospitable and the communication was perfect.
Very welcoming and friendly hosts for a lovely little cottage in beautiful surroundings! We had Fantastic time and would highly recommend for anyone who wants a bit of a country escape.
This lovely cottage in the middle of nowhere (except the beautiful nature) is the perfect place for an escape from the daily routine.
Kate picked us up in Ougherard and provided us with every information we needed. She and her family were very thoughtful and nice hosts. They brought us hot water bottles even though we didn't ask for them. They offered us repeatedly to call them if we need help with anything. On the day of our departure they organised a taxi for us. I can advise this place and of course these decent folks to everybody.
The cottage is as cozy and clean as described by the others. You have an astonishing view from the kitchen table over a little lake and you are surrounded by the rough and beautiful nature Connemara is famous for. Once the fireplaces are lit the weather outside can be as irish as it can get, you feel warm, save and comfy inside the cottage.
A wonderful cottage, it was absolutely perfect. We arrived into oughtered and Katie took us over to the home and showed us all around and told us useful information and where we were and what we should do. The home was so cosy and spacious. We lit the fires every night that kept us so warm throughout the evening. Fantastic kitchen, comfortable beds and a lovely stay that couldn't have been any better. We were surrounded by no one or anything and couldn't have felt safer or happier!
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage is great, so nice to escape to the middle of nowhere after a busy week and I love animals so the sheep and horses surrounding the house are an added bonus!
The cottage is very clean and everything is in working order with 2 fireplaces to keep you warm if needed. It has everything you need and isn't too far away from Galway city. It is also very close to a road leading to the ferry for the Aran Islands, which is very convenient as you don't have to go via Galway.
The area out the front of the cottage was undergoing some serious renovation and it was a bit disappointing having found somewhere away from town only to find that we weren't actually alone and there were workmen there til 7pm every night. I might have changed my booking had I known about this, but we were told that it was expected to be finished before we arrived. The house is very well soundproofed so the noise was not an issue and the hosts were very lovely and explained everything and the reasons behind the construction. Future guests should be able to see the lake from the kitchen window which will be nice.
