My top floor Mission Victorian is a lovely place to stay. The space is a bright, urban jungle, with art I've collected from around the world.
Conveniently located, the apartment is at the base of the hill that leads to the Castro, on the north end of the Mission District, near the historic Armory.
I live '2 blocks from everything' -- the 16th St BART station, Rainbow Grocery Co-op, Downtown SF. A 10 minute walk will bring you to the Castro, clubs, boutiques, amazing restaurants, museums, galleries, and more. A 15 minute walk will bring you to Duboce or Dolores Park. If you'd like to venture further, the #14 & #49 buses stop on the corner, the #9 that takes you to the Pacific Ocean is a 10 min walk, the SF 'wiggle' (urban bike route) is an easy ride out to Golden Gate Park & beyond, and if you have brought a vehicle, the freeway access is close by (it's not an easy place to park a car, although street metered spots & lots are available).
I'm happy to provide you with information on sustainable businesses, restaurants, public transit & other local-style City attractions--please ask!
This is an urban neighborhood, at times busy at night with venues nearby drawing customers for live music and shows. The flat is a nice contrast to Mission Street below; color & light & growing things abound, inviting you to relax.
My home is a 'shotgun studio' apartment, with hardwood floors, a clawfoot bathtub, wi-fi, a well-stocked vegetarian kitchen, & a coin-operated washer/dryer in the building. To maximize space & air-flow, there are curtains only for doors.
I use natural cleaning products, practice sustainable living (including compost) which is a great practice in general, but especially good for those sensitive to chemicals or scented products. My kitchen has a view of Twin Peaks, and is a delight to prepare food in.
Whatever your reason for visiting this fabulous city, you will find a clean, beautiful, and spacious respite for your stay. I hope you enjoy my home.
Guests will have access to the entire unit (secured & private entrance), W/D, use of wi-fi, filtered water, use of kitchen & accessories, & other household items needed for comfort.
I love assisting people to experience a truly authentic side of this beautiful City. Typically, I have access to internet when not at home & am very available for queries about local interests, public transportation, & other requests. When not in town, I coordinate key exchange through a friend, who cares for the place while I'm gone.
I love the pedestrian access to a variety of food choices, stores, grocery, parks, nightlife, art and how easy one can connect to any neighborhood from here. I live in the heart of the City, both culturally & in location. To truly experience San Francisco, one has only to step out of the front door.
FAQ: Parking is challenging here, as in most areas of the City. Best to leave your car at home if possible, & only rent for the days you wish to do sightseeing outside of the Bay.
Public buses (MUNI) stop across the street, BART (the Bay Area train system) is 2 blocks away--an easy ride from the airport, and most of the City is walkable or bike-able within 30 minutes.

Jennie sorted us out without any issues, and was very quick and accommodating with a couple of enquiries we had during our stay. First time in SF was a treat, made all the better by having a nice pad to retreat to in an interesting neighbourhood. Great being so close to BART as well. 2 of us stayed in the apartment, with a bed each. Both comfy, plenty of room for a 4 night stay. Loads of character, nice shower!
The apartment was eclectic and homey- looks just like the pictures. Very warm and accommodating host who was helpful with check in and out times. I love the location, super close to all that's in the Mission. Good stay and communication was quick and helpful!
Really amazing location - being so close to a BART stop made our stay in SF really easy and fun. The apartment certainly has personality. Very comfortable and easy to relax in. I love how much sun it gets, even in places you wouldn't expect, like the shower.
Jennie was out of town, so we got the keys from her friend, who was really easy to coordinate with.
We had a crazy issue the first night - the lock broke, leaving us stuck in the hallway with all of our stuff inside. I was really impressed with how the situation was handled. Jennie's friend went above and beyond, coming back to the apartment late in the evening to fix the problem. Everything was resolved quickly and professionally, and there was a brand new lock on the door that evening.
We would definitely stay here again. It's really comforting knowing that if something does go wrong, it'll get resolved quickly and easily.
Jennie was a great host. She was prompt in her communication and clear about her expectations. I felt that the apartment was exactly as she had represented it, and the place was perfect for my needs - cozy, well-appointed, and conveniently located. I will definitely stay at Charming Bohemian Mission Victorian again. Thank you Jennie.
Staying at Jennie's place was a plesure. The place is actually more spacious than it seems on the pictures. It's very close to Valencia street with many bars, but It's also 30min walking from downtown so not that long neither. Jennie was very helpful all the time.
Jennie was a great host. She was super responsive to all my questions before and during my stay. Her home is very charming and bright. She has done an impressive job maximizing a very small space for comfortable living. Her natural touch was an extra bonus, with living plants throughout and environmentally friendly household products for our use (soaps, etc.). My only caution is that for those sensitive to noise, there is a club nearby that could be heard at night - not overwhelming by any means, but noticeable to anyone who isn't used to background noise. We were there on a weekend so perhaps this is only an issue on Fridays/Saturdays.
Staying at Jennie's place was wonderful. The location is very convenient, and the space is filled with comforts: comfy couch/bed, plants, art, etc. Communication was great, and key exchange was a piece of cake. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for hosting us, Jennie!
This was our first AirBnB stay so we were a little apprehensive about the arrival and check in process, but it worked out perfectly. Jennie was a great communicator and the person who helps her responded to us right away when we texted her, and explained the best way to get there from the airport. She was right on time with delivering us the keys.
The location was ideal for us. The BART train system goes straight from the airport to within a couple of blocks of Jennie's apartment and all the way to the Embarcadero downtown. And there is also very convenient bus service to other parts of the city. Actually it is also easy to walk to the Mission, Market Street, Costco, REI, and a variety of other places. There is a great food store called Rainbow Grocery just a few blocks away with a huge selection of natural and organic products --- better than Whole Foods in our opinon. About 1/2 block away is also a restaurant called Woodward's Garden which is excellent. We found the food at Woodward's to be even better than a Michael Minas restaurant we ate at downtown.
We also appreciated that Jennie uses only natural cleaning products, there was even a garlic press in the kitchen, and there was never a shortage of hot water.
This was a very positive experience for us, and a great value for the budget.
We had a great stay here. The location is very handy but the sleeping and cooking facilities could definitely do with an upgrade. Paying extra to stay in the mezzanine bed seemed very odd as the lounge fold-out bed wasn't that great.
More than anything, you're paying for a wonderful location. Jennie's apartment was perfect for getting to all of my wedding-related events in the Mission, and that's something I don't undervalue. As for the apartment itself, it's got a railroad layout, so there's some obvious disadvantages. Nothing too unaccommodating, though, beyond a sink two rooms away from the bathroom. Also, it may just be my personal taste, but I didn't really love having bountiful plant life surrounding me everywhere I walked— even in the shower. I don't think you can comfortably fit more than two people in the place, especially if you don't utilize the loft bed (my friend and I decided to instead get our snuggle on in the living room.) But Jennie was a responsive and helpful host, and the place is more than suitable for a weekend trip by yourself or with a friend (preferably one you'd like to get reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal cozy with.)
