Go to sleep to the sound of the breakers on the outer reef. Greet the day looking out to the ocean horizon. Spacious guest room sleeps three (one double, one single bed). Less than one kilometre walk or bike ride by the ocean and through parkland to the heart of Port Fairy and its famous, restaurants, shops and cafes.
House is warm in winter with a cool ocean breeze in summer. The whole house is on the second level loft. Your room is spacious with a double and a single bed, desk, shelves, draws and looks out to a native garden and fish pond. The rest of the house is shared with the host and includes use of the kitchen with all appliances, cooking utensils, dishes etc, a spacious living area with flat screen TV and high quality sound system. Decks and gas BBQ are available for you to enjoy.
Interaction with Guests
The guest room is private however the rest of the house is shared. I will make you welcome in my home, provide all the information and guidance you need and allow you the space you need to enjoy your visit. The extent of our interaction will be a matter of mutual understanding and agreement. Quietness always has the priority.
Oceanview loft is located on the south side of Port Fairy where the breakers crash on the outer reef and lagoons such as Pea Soup provide sheltered swimming beaches. The house has a native garden with first floor windows looking out to the birds collecting nectar in the foliage. A port hole window at the end of the passage looks straight out to the ocean. The area is separated from the centre of town by park land and linked by bike paths. Walking in the other direction raging surf, secluded lagoons and deserted beaches stretch for miles.
For a stop over between the Great Ocean Rd and the Grampians or an extended stay Oceanview loft is the ideal place to enjoy all the culture and beauty that Port Fairy has to offer.
Drivers can park out front or in the drive. A train from Melbourne takes you to Warrnambool where there is a connecting bus service to Port Fairy. Normally I will be able to meet guests at the bus stop. A bike is ideal for the neighbourhood. In fact Port Fairy is perfect for that car free holiday. Just put your bikes on the Warrnambool train and then ride the 37km rail trail via Koroit to Port Fairy for a relaxing car free time before riding back to W'bool and getting the train back to the Big Smoke.

Chris is an exceptional man who values the really important things in life...fairness, good honest hospitality and the beauty of the natural world. His house is crammed with fantastic nature reference books and some really fabulous artwork. The accommodation is comfortable but competely unpretentious.
We shared a couple of beers with him when we returned from eating at one of the local restaurants - we really enjoyed his company and admired his appreciation of friendship and the warm hand of hospitality he'd encountered when visiting some of his ancestors in Ireland...the same hospitality he extended to us. If you like meeting people who have more to share than a superficial welcome go and stay with him...he's a top bloke.
Port Fairy is a quite magical place and in our view Chris lives in the best bit..a little out of town in a peaceful area where most of the houses have a warm lived in look about them. Closer to town they are more manicured and beautiful but lack the simple appeal of the neighbourhood a kilometre down the coast.
I went for a swim at 7am - it was a joyous experience,..a cold wind blowing from the Antarctic, so you dive into the water to get warm - very invigorating, indeed envigrating.
Chris is a lovely host and his house a little library, so many interesting books everywhere! His balcony with view to the sea very romantic! We would have liked to stay longer if we would have known about the good opportunities to snorkel around the entire area! I definitely recommend staying at Chris house for a nice weekend or couple of days!
We only stayed one night at Chris place he was really welcoming and super nice! I will recommend Chris place to anyone the view is amazing and the bed really comfortable !
The house very good place for the view but we haven t profit from view because Chris available
Chris is very nice
We only stayed a single night, but had a very good time in Chris house. Everything was clean and he was also up for a chat and some very good feedback what to do in the area.
We had a nice stay at Chris house in Port Fairy. It was an excellent neighbourhood and close to the beach with stunning sunsets and moonlit nights that could be seen from a balcony. We were received very well after a long trip and enjoyed our conversation with Chris immensely. The room was spacious and clean with lovely trees seen from the windows.
My partner and I had a lovely, relaxed time at Chris's place in Port Fairy. The house is a block away from the beach, with two balconies and ocean views, and a quick drive or walk into town. It's spacious, clean and bright, and Chris was a friendly and generous host. We enjoyed getting to know him and when we next head to Port Fairy, we'll be knocking on his door!
