About this listing
WOW! Vacation? Work? Vacation? Which one should I choose? Why choose one when you can have both? Seeing is believing!
We’re minutes away from World Class Shopping (The Oaks Mall) and major freeways (phone number hidden)). The Malibu beaches are only a 30-minute drive, over the hill. Downtown Los Angeles is about an hour away and downtown Ventura is approximately 35-40 minutes from my laid back home in the foothills of Thousand Oaks.
I am a fun and easy going individual with the great fortune of having a home that's much more fun to share than keep to myself.
My 60's modern ranch, designed by Cliff May, features a 40' window wall brings the outside
in. The available room has skylights, vaulted ceilings and lighted fan with views to the backyard as well as an 8' mirrored closet. There's a comfortable double bed with cozy linens and down comforter, TV with over 200 channels and Wifi throughout the house. French glass doors lead to an incredible tropical backyard that has it all on this 2/3-acre lot. Private Full Bath is just a few feet away.
Relax quietly in your room (and enjoy the skylight view of giant pines with scampering squirrels). When the weather is great (and it usually is), swim, lie in hammock, hang out on the beach (my own creation) or enjoy the shade offered by huge pine trees. I have a solar heated pool, grassy area (croquet anyone?), fountains (watch the birds), 14’ trampoline, 100' + pines, yuccas, palms, fruit trees and even, a huge Tiki Hut . Who could ask for more? Your choice is to retreat & go on holiday or quietly get some work done in your room OR the adjacent well lit room, complete with couches and coffee table.
Enjoying animals is a must as I have a (Turkish Van) cat and a small and very chill, aging Westie(aka White Highland Terrier). There's a lot of wildlife around (rabbits, squirrels etc.)
Recent home to two baby hawks born on my property. Hopefully they'll return to nest again
I even have binoculars.
Come enjoy this bit of Paradise for a night, day, week or month.
Continental breakfast provided.
Be courteous and respectful. You're welcome to use the kitchen but I ask that you please clean up after yourself. No drugs. No getting drunk. i make an effort to be as green as possible and hopefully you will as well. Feel free to sing Karoke, but not past 11 pm.
About the Host, Brooke
Outgoing, warm, friendly, helpful, youthful, hard working, capable, considerate, intelligent (any glitches in memory, I blame on 'menopause'!) fun, adventurous, trustworthy and a woman of integrity who happens to be a widow.
Some things I cannot live without are: God; The joyous relationship I have with my 23 year old daughter; Sunshine; A supportive and loving family; animals and (not even) last but not least......LAUGHTER!!!!!
At 19 I traveled with my sister to Mexico for several months with the man she was going to marry (who we JUST MET) and her two kids in a Jeep Pickup with a camper shell. I've always been super easy going which is probably why I got the hammock all those months and they slept inside the camper!! Made wonderful friends along the way. At 21 I took a trip for a month to Israel. That trip lasted a year and I traveled all over Europe and the Middle East.....stopping in Spain to study Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi, at which point I followed in my mother and brothers footsteps and became a teacher of TM. (I'd already been initiated by The Maharishi in a backyard tent in 1959 in Los Angeles at the age of 10.) After much self examination, prayer, I became a Christian at the tender age of 30. Brilliant decision.
I spent numerous years in the entertainment industry, not taking myself too seriously....but certainly enjoyed the company I kept!
I love movies and music and have a nice 52" Plasma with Surround and Netflix available for your viewing pleasure. Do you play piano? My Yamaha piano is also a Karaoke and turns a dull Tuesday night into a raucous Friday! HaHa. Just in case!
My favorite foods are Japanese, BBQ/Rib Eye Steak cooked RARE, Salads with everything but the kitchen sink and a single recipe called "Chicken Marbella' - Yum!!!
I'm used to having a lot of people in my home as my husband and I entertained hundreds of people over the years.....ranging in age from 1-90. My house is a FUN HOUSE and a home that people feel immediately at ease. Not formal in the least.
