The Space

About the apartment...
This sunny, cute and cozy one bedroom features rooftop views and garden exposure. Lovely hardwood floors, newly renovated kitchen and bath. Stylishly designed, modern and crisp, very clean and tidy. It's ideal for a couple or individual, as the Queen size bed sleeps two. The bed is a Sealy Euro Pillowtop mattress, and it is beyond comfortable. Clean sheets and luxury bath towels are provided. There's also shampoo, conditioner, soaps, and a blow dryer for your use. Wireless internet included. No gas cooking but there is a microwave and hot water boiler.

About the building...
Pre-War Townhouse-style walk-up building. The apartment is on the top floor but there are only 3 flights of carpeted stairs, and it's a very easy walk-up. You may not want to pack a giant piece of luggage unless you have a friend helping you. I myself have (email hidden)g down the stairs, but have help getting it back up after trips. There are only 7 neighbors, so the building is very quiet. There are two front doors to the building with a buzzer for entry. Although there is no doorman, it is very secure and safe.

About your host...
I am very hospitable and want to make sure you enjoy your stay. I am easily accessible even if I am away, so no worries about having questions for me. I am very responsive. The most important thing for me is to make sure you are comfortable!

Interaction with Guests

I like to make sure guests are comfortable, so plan to hear from me upon check-in and text or email during your stay. I am accessible, so I would rather have a guest tell me they need something during their stay than say they didn't have it after they leave!

The Neighborhood

About the neighborhood...
Horatio Street is one of the most picturesque blocks in the West Village, steps from the best restaurants, the Meatpacking District, SoHo, TriBeCa and easily accessible (3 blocks walk) to 14th St Subway station (A,C,E,L) and 14th St. Subway Station (1, 2, 3). There is usually plenty of street parking in the neighborhood and there are also many parking garages available nearby.
Nearby restaurants: One block from Pastis, MPD, STK, Bagatelle, Standard Grill, Abe & Arthur's, Dos Caminos, Villa Pacri, Buddha Bar, Corsino, Soho House and more!
Fabulous shopping: Jeffrey, Park & Bond by Gilt, Apple Store, Sephora, Ports 1961, Theory, DVF, Scoop, Paige Denim, Earnest Sewn, Intermix, Tory Burch, Yigal Azrouel and more!
One block from Gansevoort Street entrance to the High Line!
Overall, a very safe and clean neighborhood that has everything to offer. Daytime strolls and shopping, and great nightlife.

  • A nice comfortable apartment in an upmarket, easily accessible part of town. We enjoyed our stay.

Lauren's apartment was a great base for exploring and a couple of times, staying in and watching TV. The apartment is well equipped and I was delighted to discover that the kitchen had a kettle. Essential for making a proper cup of tea. Decent wifi was a good bonus too.

The block isn't equipped with a lift, so having to walk up 3 big flights of stairs with heavy suitcases was a bit of a challenge. I thought I'd need medical assistance before I got to the top. By the end of the week, I did feel fitter for the combination of walking and stair climbing that we'd done. We'd happily stay in this apartment again and recommend it to anyone. Thank you.

  • We just returned home from 8 nights at Lauren's West Village apartment and we loved it. The location is perfect and served as our home base in NY as we explored the surrounding neighbourhoods and we walked almost everywhere including a 1.5 hour trek to Brooklyn. The apartment is 4 floors up, so be prepared to get some exercise, and the building is not fancy on the outside or common areas. The apartment is extremely quiet and you will hear the birds in the morning and very little NYC street noise at night.

Lauren was also flexible in allowing us to customize the trip to meet our needs including early checkin and late check-out times. She was also very communicative and available to reach by phone, email and text very easily.

If you are looking for a great alternative to a hotel, I highly recommend.

Chris it was such a pleasure to meet you both. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon in NYC!

  • I can wholeheartedly recommend Lauren's lovely apartment! The location is superb and all communication with Lauren was great. The aprile is well decorated and clean. The bed is confortable and very quiet (we woke up with birds singing). Lauren gave us great advice on where to go to eat! The apt is next to Meatpacking bars and resturants, a walk along Hudson river, the high line, Bleecker street shops and Metro station! Perfect place for anyone that likes cozy and relaxed place, in wonderful surroundings from where to start exploreing New York!

  • This is a lovey, quiet and clean apartment in a great part of town with a considerate and flexible host (Lauren). Perfect for a couple or pair for a long weekend. We found it a brilliant place to return to post strolling/shopping/sightseeing and before heading out to one of the many (excellent) restaurants in the area.
    Highly recommended.

  • Staying at Lauren's place was awesome. Great apartment, great host and great location. I would highly recommend the experience. It was seamless from start to finish!

  • Lauren's appartment is very nice and cosu, and extremely quiet which is very rare for people who know NY.
Lauren is the best host. Everything was prepared for us, fresh towels, tea/coffee..., and instructions re the area; the bed is very comfortable, so is the sofa.
Lauren was completely available whenever we had a question.
The only minus, should there be one, is the lack of elevator. But again, in this area this is pretty standard.
The area is amazing, 1 block from Pastis and the highline, 2 blocks from Bleecker street and Magnolia Bakery :), ... I would definitely come back at Lauren's place next time I am over in NY!

  • Lovely, well-equipped and comfy apartment, was really warm despite the freezing conditions outside. Loved the West Village location - very peaceful but also buzzing with lots of restaurants, bars and shops nearby. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • This was my first experience with using Airbnb, and I am happy to report that it was a positive one. I was in town on business most of the week, and wanted to try something different than a hotel. Lauren's apartment was all that she described. It was was sunny, comfortable and clean. You can see the top of the Freedom tower from her living room window. The neighborhood and building was very quiet and I enjoyed exploring the different restaurants. Lauren was very responsive and flexible. I am now sold on Airbnb and plan to use this service when possible.

  • Small yet very cute and clean place. Very cute and a very nice warm temperatura during the cold NY Winter. The location cannot be better, its less than block away from top designers, the fun área of meatpacking, the highline and an organic store (for groceries) and amazing local restaurants like "Spotte Pig" which was of our hightlights during the vacation. Apartment was very clean and comfortable.

About
I'm a young working professional, originally from South Florida, where I grew up playing tennis and going to the beach. I also spent my summers at my family's Jersey Shore house. I love traveling and seeing the world, and have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to do so. My favorite place I have been so far is Ascona, Switzerland on Lago Maggiore. It's a beautiful little town on the Swiss/Italian border and has just the right amount of Italian "la dolce vita" paired with Swiss precision. My favorite books that I have read recently are the "Millennium Trilogy" series by Stieg Larsson and the Swedish movies are also really amazing. I am also a self-proclaimed techie, and I amaze my friends all the time with my savvy. I have lived in the New York City area for 10 years now, so I am able to recommend places to visit during your stay and I think you will find my City Guide very helpful when getting to know the West Village neighborhood and its many shops and restaurants. Being in real estate and having worked on many projects on different neighborhoods, I know my way around the city very well and able to provide directions for you if you need help getting around. I have rented out my apartment to members of the Airbnb community for almost a year now, and have had some great experiences. Feel free to read my reviews and ask questions. My apartment is so cozy and comfortable and I think members of the Airbnb community will very much enjoy their stay. It is in the BEST location in NYC. It's very quiet and I wake up to birds singing every single morning! I am also very neat and clean and would love for my guests to be the same. I travel quite often so feel free to let me know in advance if you are interested in the apartment for a future date.
