Other Things to Note
Complimentary Tea, coffee and mineral water.
Extra food available on request - the best local cuisine in town!
Not too many.....please do not take the towels out of the house.
When in Asia use a sarong on the beach - it dries quicker and a towel becomes cumbersome.
The kitchen is for general use, so please keep it tidy and clean.
Same with the terrace and communal areas - be kind to your environment and smile a lot!!
This is a perfect choice if you want to get a step back from the mainstream tourism of Hikkaduwa but you still want to enjoy the beach life. The house is really in the junglel, in a pieceful enviroment, beautiful garden, tries, birds, flovers, monkyes, only 10 min (250 rupi) tuk-tuk from the beach. Abelinda, the Spanish owner is very friendly, she has a very good taste for the tropic, romantic housing design. The outdoor bathroom is just great and clean, an comfortable, siting on a open air WC is just wounderfull. We are traveling with our two years old dougther, so the very well equipped kitchen was practical for us. Ginger the dog is very friendly too.
My daughter and I stayed there for 2 days. the place had a lot of character blending in with the forest. We loved the bright red room that we stayed in with the lovely outdoor bathroom. Belinda, our host was really helpful and sociable. We often used a tuktuk to get to the beach because it was a long walk but being situated in a forest area made up for it.
I fell in love with this place as soon as I stepped in. Bee is a complete crazy, fun, bohemian hipster who has painted her own persona all over the house. If you're a quiet, artsy, nature lover then you will definitely love staying at Dragon Fly House. Even if you're not any of the above you'll love this place :p
I got lost a million times but I was looked after by Kumara. He is always at your service and very humble.
The Narigama Beach is just 30 minutes away from Bee's place. The beach is beautiful with a range of shacks and if you're a party animal then you'll love the parties at this beach.
Top Secret and Vibrations are a must! Also, Bee and her Spanish friends made my stay at Hikkaduwa so much fun. I learnt a lot of Spanish and taught them some Hindi as well, we drank, laughed and chilled. I hope I come across you guys again :)
Miss you Bee and thank you so much for the lovely stay! Xoxo
Belindas place in the jungle is lovely and peaceful. Within striking distance of some great places to eat and a beautiful beach.
We recently stayed in Belinda's jungle bungalow for two nights. Overall our stay was enjoyable. Belinda was very communicative online and helped us pre-arrange transportation from the airport in Colombo to her home. The room is as it appears in photos, very clean, airy and bright though a little dark at night as there were only two lights in the room. The property itself was pleasant and had a comfortable outdoor area. Belinda and her sons were helpful in terms of recommending restaurants in the area and arranging tuk tuks to go to Galle (a breezy ~30 min or so ride to Galle Fort) and to town for dinner (~5 min). Ginger, Belinda's dog, was also very sweet.
We felt that the experience could have been even better had we had a proper tour of the house in the beginning as we were unsure of some basic questions such as where to get water in the middle of the night. Also, while the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast cooked for us by Belinda's neighbors was incredibly delicious and memorable, it would have been nice to have been told about the price of the breakfast (550 rupees per person) beforehand rather than being handed a bill as we left. These are only minor gripes though. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at Belinda's.

About the Host, Belinda
Having had a very busy life - now starting to call down a bit..... sort of.
I have four grown up kids who have taken over my life for a long time - and I have been running a busy production company in Spain for many years.
My favourite pass-times are traveling and food. When at my place you will eat well, for sure.
I want to make it special when you come and stay - I appreciate constructive criticism .
I love quirky people - love sudden spurts of madness and letting my hair down, but am quite calm and responsible most of the time . If there is a live concert it will take me out and i will probably be the last one home, but otherwise I don't go out much.
I am one to mix in with the locals and love the local food and markets - will spend hours chatting and finding out more - I help a charity in Hikkaduwa called Manacare - they do great things - I just give them my love and help a little if i can.
I love to read - real life experiences - travel books - all about Asia.
I am a bit of an artist and love all form of art - from photography, to painting , though fabric design and interior design and recently have been making 'mandalas' which I find very therapeutic.
My motto: smile and be happy and dont interfere in how others lead their lives - we are all different!
