  • We recently stayed in Belinda's jungle bungalow for two nights. Overall our stay was enjoyable. Belinda was very communicative online and helped us pre-arrange transportation from the airport in Colombo to her home. The room is as it appears in photos, very clean, airy and bright though a little dark at night as there were only two lights in the room. The property itself was pleasant and had a comfortable outdoor area. Belinda and her sons were helpful in terms of recommending restaurants in the area and arranging tuk tuks to go to Galle (a breezy ~30 min or so ride to Galle Fort) and to town for dinner (~5 min). Ginger, Belinda's dog, was also very sweet.

We felt that the experience could have been even better had we had a proper tour of the house in the beginning as we were unsure of some basic questions such as where to get water in the middle of the night. Also, while the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast cooked for us by Belinda's neighbors was incredibly delicious and memorable, it would have been nice to have been told about the price of the breakfast (550 rupees per person) beforehand rather than being handed a bill as we left. These are only minor gripes though. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at Belinda's.

  • Belinda is a great host. Kind and helpful, she will be happy to show you the best places, restaurants or even if you want to run surf lessons. Everyone knows her and she know the best places in town. The house is beautiful, spacious room, in the middle of the jungle but very close to hikkaduwa beach, with a nice nightlife. Definitely, if you come to Hikkaduwa you must go to Belinda's

  • I had a wonderful time at Belinda's house in Sri Lanka. There is lots of good memories of staring out at the monsoon rains, and dreaming of renting this place out again for a really fabulous expat party.

The usual caretakers were out of town for most of my stay and the neighbors and the local and hugely knowlegable tuktuk driver/guide were charged with taking care of me. The older woman adopted me in the first hour --- I was her foreigner daughter.

The bed was comfortable, and the there was enough random kitchen stuff to make what I needed to make.

If you are planning on coming here, keep in mind that Sri Lanka is not cheap, and this place is not centrally located (which was a key selling point for me) and that this house is really nicely suited for a big family gathering or the group of overworked tech workers who need to seriously unplug.

  • Our stay was wonderful. House is very nice and quiet. Hosts was very friendly, nice and can arrange almost anything you need. We loved breakfasts and dinners by Kumar, local cook.
Also Chandana (manager) arranged a whale watching for us, which was really intersting and fun.
I think that house most suitable for big family holidays :)
thank you for your hospitality! =)

  • The house is really nice and spacious. In general, the expectations were confirmed. We subscribe to the opinion of the previous inhabitants.

  • The house was nice and very relaxing. You can cook your own meals or let the neighbors cook you some Sri Lanka cuisine. The beach is a pleasent 15 minute walk away or Chandana, the driver and manager, will pick you up. We enjoyed the whole experience very much.

  • My friend and I really enjoyed staying at Belinda's home in Sri Lanka. There are several bed rooms, so that multiple travellers or even a whole family has space - at the time, we had the house all to ourselves, it was very peaceful and relaxing. There is a lot of space, and lots of different fruit trees in the garden. If you're lucky, you'll even catch a monkey! There is a big kitchen, so you can also cook for yourselves - or you can get the neighbors to help you.

We had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time with the neighbors, who cooked and cared for us - they prepared the best Sri Lankan specialties. They were very friendly, interested in our culture, and took really great care of us. It wasn't free, but it was very very reasonable.

Belinda provided us with more than enough information about the region, and she is very quick in responding. She also offers to organize a friend - who is also the manager, and caretaker, of the facility - to take us around in his tuk-tuk. He was also very nice, showing us his family, his rice fields, and his jungle. He was very knowledgeable, and offered to take us to see different sights, also take a jungle and beach tour through all of Sri Lanka.

The location of the house is in a small village just near Hikkaduwa, completely off the tourist track - no tourists out there! it takes about 15 minutes to get from the house to the main road - Galle Road. There is also a train connection, on the train from Colombo to Galle, though during our stay the tracks were being repaired and was out of service for 4-6 months.

All in all, we had a really nice time, and can definitely recommend this accommmodation to others.

Also we have as a neighbors three very friendly dogs who protected us from monkeys and welcomed us at home.)) The housekeeper helped us with everything we needed. About
Having had a very busy life - now starting to call down a bit..... sort of. I have four grown up kids who have taken over my life for a long time - and I have been running a busy production company in Spain for many years. My favourite pass-times are traveling and food. When at my place you will eat well, for sure. I want to make it special when you come and stay - I appreciate constructive criticism . I love quirky people - love sudden spurts of madness and letting my hair down, but am quite calm and responsible most of the time . If there (email hidden) concert it will take me out and i will probably be the last one home, but otherwise I don't go out much. I am one to mix in with the locals and love the local food and markets - will spend hours chatting and finding out more - I help a charity in Hikkaduwa called Manacare - they do great things - I just give them my love and help a little if i can. I love to read - real life experiences - travel books - all about Asia. I am a bit of an artist and love all form of art - from photography, to painting , though fabric design and interior design and recently have been making 'mandalas' which I find very therapeutic. My motto: smile and be happy and dont interfere in how others lead their lives - we are all different!
