Interaction with Guests
We are happy to tell our guests about our favorite local places and recommend restaurants and activities. At the same time, we know that you're not coming to Shelburne Falls to hang out with us, so you will have plenty of space and privacy. You will essentially have your own private studio apartment, so you probably won't see much of us.
Shelburne Falls is a picturesque New England village straddling the Deerfield River. We are in the center of the village, just a short walk from several coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and art galleries, as well as the famous Bridge of Flowers and Glacial Potholes.
Shelburne Falls is just off the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) 10 minutes from Greenfield, 35 minutes from Northampton, 45 minutes from North Adams. Nearby activities include skiing, river kayaking, zipline, hiking, swimming, biking, scenic drives, pick-your-own farms and orchards, and maple sugar shacks. We are within a 45 minute drive of over a dozen world class museums.
Very limited bus transportation to Greenfield and Northampton is available via Franklin County Transit Authority. We highly recommend having a car. If you are a Zipcar member, cars are available in Northampton and Amherst.
There is ample free parking in a public lot right across the street.
Other Things to Note
We have one friendly cat named Franklin. We generally try to keep him out of the studio, but this is probably not the best place for you if you're highly allergic.
No smoking, no pets. No additional guests without prior arrangements.
We want you to be comfortable and enjoy yourself, but please be respectful of us, our home, and our neighbors. Please leave the place as you found it.
I had a fabulous stay with my boyfriend at Kate and Scott's studio. We didn't see much of our hosts, but they were very welcoming and Kate answered all of our questions via the site right away.
Shelburne Falls is a lovely town from where we were able to base great day trips into the surrounding areas. Kate and Scott are right in the town center, on the same block as the bridge of flowers and around the corner from a great restaurant with live jazz every Friday (5 stars for the Blue Rock restaurant). The room itself is very spacious with lots of windows, the two of us had more than enough room to spread out.
Heading across the hall to use the shower was no problem at all. Kate and Scott provided towels, soaps, coffee, yogurts, fresh flowers.
Totally recommend this sunny studio, thank you Kate and Scott!
The neighborhood was nice and quiet, the apartment is above a liquor store, but no worries, you have no drunken people hanging around there.
The studio was ok but didn't realize I had to go to the host house to shower, and that was a little bummer, but it was ok.
Best deal in town! I had a completely dreamy time in Kate and Scott's truly palatial studio for six nights. This is the perfect home base for exploring or just hanging around beautiful Shelburne Falls. Especially recommended for folks who don't mind not having access to a full kitchen since the space includes a kitchenette but no stove. This was totally fine for me because I was visiting buddies and cooked a lot with them down the street. Also, you can pick up prepared foods at McCusker's Market right down the street.
Kate and Scott were fantastic hosts, as was their talkative kitty, Franklin. They gave me space to do my own thing but were very available to take care of things and give suggestions (OK, maybe Franklin wasn't great at that part). There were little details that I appreciated like really great coffee beans and my own little coffee grinder right in my room, a fantastic selection of little soaps and shampoos, and even a vase of lilacs waiting for me. I can't wait to return. Thank you both!
