Clean, comfortable private room in a large plant-filled apartment, double bed, own bathroom. Lie in hammock and gaze at the views. Shared living room and small kitchen and washing machine available. Once inside, it doesn't feel like busy downtown.

The Space

Experience authentic Salvador in Dois de Julho's popular central neighborhood! During Carnival time, trio eletricos on the Avenida Sete de Setembro are just blocks away, and Pelourinho and Barra a quick taxi or bus ride.

Located in Salvador's lively, "popular" and busy Largo Dois de Julho neighborhood, this cool and cozy room includes two single beds, a private bathroom, ceiling fan, wireless network, cable TV in the living room, access to mini refrigerator and laundry facilities.

The living room opens up onto a charming veranda with romantic sunsets and spectacular views of the All Saint's Bay. Need to relax? The veranda, full of plants, has a cozy hammock for lounging and gazing at the sea.

Being downtown- Centro, it is easy access to most tourist destinations. It is walking distance to historical Pelourinho, Mercado Modelo, the Bahia Marina and Solar de Unhão. Access to major bus routes, upper and lower city destinations, buses to the beach up the coast and other important tourist attractions are easy. There are also many good bars, markets, fruit sellers and restaurants in the Largo. Getting around on foot and taking a bus is not a problem, but take a taxi home at night for extra safety.

I am a history and English teacher from the US and have lived in Brazil for many years. I love the beach, going for walks, reading, listening to music, cooking, traveling and hanging out with friends. I used to own and run two crepe restaurants here in Salvador. I teach Middle School full time in Salvador. I have two Portuguese Water Dogs and a Westie.

  • This apartment is a winner all the way. Basically, it is way more beautiful than on the pictures. I loved the way it is so spacious with carefully chosen furniture and jaw-drapping views over the Baia do Todos os Santos. Heather was a helpful, fund and easy-going host: the perfect combination. Location also good, Dois de Julho is an interesting neighborhood, close to Pelorino and other points of interest. I could warmly recommend this place to anybody looking for an affordable yet unique place to stay. Note that you might be sharing this space with other guests.

  • There's is not much to say that haven't been said already.
It's a wonderful place were you'll find everything you need (towel....) and in the evening you have just the most beautiful view of the sunset.
I have been to other places in Salvador and even if it was nice everywhere, Heather's place was the best from far.

    Thank you so much.

  • This house is a kind of paradise! room is simple but with all you need. Heather were so kind to leave cold filter water at the fridge every morning. That is very important at the hot Salvador:)

Its pity i havent seen Heather but once, when I checked-out - I were busy to explorer Bahia, and Heather were at work....

The view from the house balcony is beaitiful, nice garden, nice neigborhood. At night I just took a taxi from Pelourinio, price 10 reais. And at the day time the way for Pelourinio took 15 minutes by foot, to the beach - 5 minutes by bus.
I had very happy and safe time at Salvador, thanks to so nice and comfortable accomodation.

  • Heather offered us a beautiful paradise in the middle of Salvador's city center. It was the perfect location due to the fact that largo dois de julho is next to the Carnaval route. Form the apartment you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Marina while being in a hammock. Another great point are the new comfy mattresses.

  • I enjoyed my time with Heather who I found to be a relaxed and easy going host always willing to help and provide tips and advice to get more out of my stay in Salvador. If you want to be less of a tourist and more like a local then Dois De Julho will provide you with a more authentic experience. It's around 10 mins walking to Historico Centro and a short bus trip to Barra. It's also very close to the MAM where they have a great cafe and a popular Jazz night on Saturday with a great vibe and good mix of people. My only caveat is that you need to be careful at night the area between this suburb and Historico Centro becomes unsafe only take buses or taxis don't walk there.

  • Beautiful place! It is conveniently located - about a 15 min walk to mercado modello, and close to Pelorinho. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back again!

  • I stayed in Heather*s home in Jan 2012 and I was a very nice positive surprise, the room and the hole flat! Nice open balconies, top view on to the bay and Itaparica.
Own bathroom next to the room. Simple furnished, all clean!
Helpfull and nice hoste with a lot of knowledge of Salvador and the region. The neighborhood is simple and seems to be a bit run down and first impression was a bit frightened, but it*s a very lifely and original brazilian district and nice to be arround there. My insider tip!
