Mountain Hall was built in 1902 by John Rosborough and a neighbor as a music hall. Rosborough was professor of music for many years. People would gather for conversation and performances.

I highly recommend Jim's cabin if you want to visit the park! It's surrounded by beautiful mountains and is super close to the amazing views on Bear Lake Drive. The cabin itself was great and we enjoyed many amazing meals at the huge dining table. The great room was by far my favorite space and we loved sitting around the fire. There was definitely more than enough space for our group of 5!
My friends and I had a great week at the cabin exploring the mountains and Rocky Mountain National Park. I appreciated being just a short drive from the park gate and the stores in town, but in an area where there's still a sense of privacy and nature. Our group made good use of the huge covered front porch, extra long dining table, and tremendous amount of space in the main room. We also took advantage of the hot tub and second-floor balcony. The place has character, and we were discovering new details throughout the trip. One practical example: the porch lights are controlled by rotary switches mounted overhead just inside the side door.
My friends and I had a great time staying in the Mountain Hall. The lodging was as described - large w/ 3 bedrooms plus two loft beds and several couches, to comfortably sleep everyone. Very close to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park proper. Jim was responsive to my questions and provided good directions on how to get to the cabin and had an instruction booklet with activity ideas, checkout instructions, etc. Would definitely stay here again.
We went as a group of seven friends and had a great time here! The cabin looked exactly as in the picture and was HUGE. The location was super convenient as it was only 10 minutes to the downtown area, but also 5 minutes to the entrance of RMNP. The fireplace and hot tub were awesome perks. We were also pleasantly surprised by how good reception/data was here as some national parks have absolutely nothing in the neighboring towns.
Advice to others: Actually use the directions the owners give you--we thought we were smart using google maps and it wasn't until we finally sat back and read their directions that we were able to find the place...oops
While because of Mother Nature, we did not end up staying, our hosts were very communicative throughout (complete refund as well.) When we get the chance again, I'll definitely be booking this cabin. Still looks amazing! Mother Nature won't stop us twice!!
My friends and I had a wonderful stay in Jim's cabin. It is even better than the pictures! We spent almost the entire trip hanging out on the huge porch enjoying the view (and the deer and hummingbirds!). The kitchen is fully equipped and the beds are super comfortable. It's only a short drive to great hiking and to the Estes town center. I would 100% recommend this cabin and definitely hope to return!

I and my wife, Cathy, love traveling and visiting destinations all over the world.
We found Estes Park, Colorado 28 years ago and visited almost every year, finally moving here in 2010.
Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park is about the most beautiful place we have ever found.
We strive to help our guests have the best vacation experience possible-and are available for questions, suggestions or whatever you may need. We have lots of advice on things to do, where to eat, places to see.
We enjoy hiking, camping, sports, and I hope to conquer all the peaks in RMNP before I'm done!
