Located opposite the beautiful estuary with lovely views and plenty of outdoor space.
There is plenty of parking and nicely landscaped gardens.

Entire cottage is yours. Shared parking with main house. There is a greenhouse to the back of the cottage with complimentary logs for the wood burning stove.Use of the front garden, the patio and side garden also.
Interaction with Guests
This is a self contained unit and guests have full independence from the main house (which does contain a friendly cat and dog (at the weekends) and my housemates!).
Unfortunately I am bi-located in Dublin a lot of the time so I have a housekeeper help with check-in when I am away. I am always on call though for any problems or queries and in addition to the housekeeper there is property manager nearby at all times too for emergencies or help.
The cottage is located in the small hamlet of Rath. Round the corner (10 minutes walk) are the church, the Sibin pub (which serves food and has music at the weekend) and the school.
We are on the estuary of a 100 isles so there are beautiful views around the locale and it is classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
3kms down the road and you have the village of Baltimore, with a shop (with atm), pubs, restaurants, sailing clubs, water sports, swimming pool and a playground. Also
6kms away is the famous Lough Hyne (recently listed in the Irish Times 20 Best Places to go wild in Ireland for walking, swimming and diving).
8kms away is Skibbereen, the main town for this part of West Cork with banks, post office, a Lidl, , arts centre, medical centre and everything else.
We are located on the main road to Baltimore and there is a public bus service that goes right past the house. Please check Bus Eireann for details.
Other Things to Note
This cottage is ideal for families, couples, or someone just wanting to get away from it all.
It is very easy to find thanks to the bright white fence and we are the first house on the left after Reengaroga crossroads.
Pets are allowed, however the garden is not secure.
We have a nice variety of bird life including a local kestrel, many types of finch, blackbirds, doves and sea birds too.
One important thing to note is that the rural broadband service is not brilliant and can be very unreliable. I'm working with Eircom to try and improve it and there is a back-up mobile wifi network in the meantime.
No smoking in the building itself please. Seats provided outside.
Wood burning stove is for wood or briquettes only (no coal), please don't burn your rubbish in it.
The electricity costs are currently included in the price and operate on a trust system that you won't be silly with with leaving lights and heaters on all the time. Please consider your energy usage when in the cottage, both for the earth and my bills. We've plenty of extra duvets and blankets in the main house for very cold nights so please feel free to ask for them if you are uncomfortable or the heaters and stove are not enough.
Likewise please try to recycle and compost your waste as much as possible.
Unfortunately we have not met Catharine. But her housekeeping friend was very kind and helpful. The house has all facilities. Very nice situated for a lot of sightseeing trips. We enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a fantastic weekend at the Cottage in Baltimore. It was well equipped and clean with great instructions and was 5 mins drive from the centre of Baltimore. We squeezed our 3 kids into the single bedroom and they all slept like logs.
Catherine est très réactive au moindre problème. Maison conforme à la description.
The cottage was as described. We were very comfortable there for our short stay. Great base for exploring West Cork. Catherine was there to welcome us and we felt we could contact her at any time if we had to. One thing that was a little off putting was alot of animal hair around the place especially on the sofa which wasn't ideal for our 9 month old son. Aside from that we were happy with our stay.
We had a super time in the cottage at Baltimore, lots of things to do and places to go. It was excellently located between the towns so we were able to explore the local area with ease. We really enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder in the morning eating breakfast and it was lovely to come back in the afternoon, cook dinner and chill in the comfortable sofas. The dogs had a fab time too!
We were welcomed in the best way possible. We were picked up at a local grocery store in Skibbereen and brought to the cottage by Eileen who helps take care of the place. She brought us and all our luggage. Besides all the food we just purchased. The cottage was more than we hoped for. It is very cozy with plenty of amenities. The neighborhood is simply breathtaking. The people are friendly. If you get a chance visit the Sibin Pub. Great food and great prices. It's right around the corner. We stayed for two weeks and traveled all over West Cork. Catherine's cottage is a great place to be centrally located. We didn't want to leave.
Catherine was warm and welcoming, and checked that we were ok. She was also great at communicating before hand. The bungalow was clean and tidy and was well stocked with towels, kitchen utensils and other things such as tea and coffee. The place was lovely and private. It was necessary, though, to keep the place well aired when cooking and showering. The place was in a lovely situation and easy to get into Baltimore with a car. Lovely walks around the island opposite too. We had a lovely week here.
