Where you’ll be

Helpringham, England, United Kingdom

Helpringham is a friendly, beautifully peaceful village situated between the hills of Rutland and the Fens. We have a pub which serves food and real ales plus a village store/post office, catering for most daily needs. The historic city of Lincoln is 22 mile away, Heckington is 3 miles away for a larger variety of shops including an award winning butchers. Heckington is also the home of the longest running country show, a fabulous display of country life in Lincolnshire. 2019 dates for the show are July 27th & 28th. Check out the Heckington shows website for this years attractions. The world egg throwing competition is held at Swaton on vintage day, 1 mile away. With displays of vintage cars, motorcycles and steam engines, the egg throwing is the icing on the cake for the day. 2019s world championship is Sunday 30th June. The market town of Sleaford is 6 miles away with all the shops you need. The Georgian town of Stamford is well worth a visit too. Woodhall Spa, the home to the RAF during the second world war, has the most enchanting cinema you can imagine. Their 1940s festival is July 13th and 14th this year when the whole village reverts back to the 2nd World War, a must visit for vintage clothed enthusiasts. RAF Coningsby is home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Museum, a must visit for Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster enthusiasts. Many local villages have good quality pubs serving good food too. As well as local walks, there are many walks and cycle rides through the Rutland hills, the fens and the Lincolnshire wolds and all within an hours drive. Also ideally situated for the Newark International Antiques Fair, the Lincoln Antiques Fair and many other antiques fairs and shops. The sandy beaches at Donna Nook, north of Skegness are the pupping grounds for seals in late autumn, early winter.
