Nicely situated between Rhinebeck, Hyde Park and Millbrook, and just 4.5 miles from Omega Institute. Close to everything yet far removed, our country home is the perfect base for your explorations of all Northern Dutchess has to offer.
We offer a large room with a queen bed and chaise. Adjoining is a private bath with an extra roomy shower, and a large walk-in closet for all your clothes, bags and shoes. You control the comfort of your room with central air conditioning and heat. A flat screen tv, internet access, Keurig beverages and mini fridge stocked with essentials is complimentary.
The guest room is separated from the main house where we live full time by an interior door. Your private entrance has a porch and is just steps away from your car. Our home is secluded on over 50 acres of meadow and woodlands on a beautiful country road perfect for running, cycling and leisurely walks. We are just 4 miles-a five minute drive from Omega Institute. Visit the historic sites and the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, just 15 minutes away. Dine, shop, visit the farmers market and see a film in Rhinebeck, also just 15 minutes out. Go five more minutes to visit the beautiful towns Red Hook and Millbrook and their surrounding horse and farm country, or visit the Walkway Over The Hudson in Poughkeepsie. Venture across the Hudson to Historic Kingston, Saugerties and Woodstock. And at the end of the day, return to peace and quiet, and enjoy the beautiful starry sky.
If you wish to cook, you may use our grill or kitchen, and you are welcome to enjoy meals and cocktails on the back patio. If you are staying for 5 days or more, a washer and dryer is available.
Interaction with Guests
Bill and I both work during the week at our business. He is an early riser and usually out by 7 am. I am usually around in the morning and afternoons. We are both available by cell if you need us, and are usually not too far away. As our guest, if you desire privacy, we respect that. If you enjoy socializing with your hosts, you won't be disappointed.
Our street is a lovely one-lane, mostly dirt country road surrounded by horse farms and private homes. Our driveway is half a mile long, ensuring a private and quiet location. You will enjoy the wildlife. You can hear the wind blowing, and the romantic whistle of the trains on the nearby Hudson lines.
If you visit us, you need a car.
Other Things to Note
Our fee for Friday and Saturday nights and holiday weekends is $100 per night. Weeknights are $75 per night. We do request a two night minimum stay from June through October. Sorry, we do not take reservations more than 5 months in advance at this time.
Check in time is flexible. Check out is 12 noon. Unfortunately, we cannot allow pets. We have two cats who are not allowed in the guest room. Smoking is not allowed in the house. You may smoke anywhere outside and on your porch. We totally respect your privacy and will never enter your room unless there is an emergency. We ask that you trust us since the interior door to you room does not lock. (You can lock the exterior door.) We do not provide housekeeping services other than providing clean towels at your request. A washer and dryer are available upon request.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kathleen's house. She graciously accommodated us last minute, complete with our late arrival, and after a snow storm offered to help pull our car up the hill to their house. The location is beautiful and incredibly private - the house is down a long, tree-lined driveway. The bedroom is cozy and well decorated with ample storage space and extra blankets and pillows!
Kathleen was very welcoming, accommodating and thoughtful. The space was clean and comfortable and sits on a lovely piece of land.
Kathleen was very accommodating and flexible. Unfortunately, we did not have much time to interact with her since we were really busy, but we immediately got a sense of her excellence as a host.
The room is beautiful and comfortable. She has a closet stocked with teas, coffee, water, or many other items you may have forgotten.
The home is located in a rural area and there are deer roaming around at night to give you an idea.
Would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.
My daughter and I loved staying at Kathleen’s home in Staatsburg, NY. Upon our arrival Kathleen greeted us, and she showed us our room. She has a really special place, nice and private location radiating solitude. The views of night sky were spectacular, especially the full Moon rising at one evening.
The room was clean and well furnished, with a private entrance, just few feet away where we parked our car. The bed was very comfortable. It was very easy to get into our destination every day. We’d definitely stay here again! I highly recommend staying with Kathleen to anyone looking for solitude, in a privacy of a back-country. Driving around on roads seeing the beautiful fall colors on threes every morning was amazing. We’d definitely return here again!
Caring and considerate host.
Well equiped, pleasant large room.
Internet a little patchy at times.
Convenient for commuting to Omega.
Snacks, coffee and cold water much appreciated.
Follow the host's directions. They are better than your GPS.
Kathleen is a wonderful hostess. The room was better than pictured (it's larger than it looks) and everything was just right. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. My husband and I shared the room with our 5'8" daughter and she slept well on the extra bed. Plenty of room for three. Nice neighborhood. Close to great restaurants. We plan to return and would recommend to anyone looking for lodging in the Hyde Park area.
My husband Bill and I are a well behaved, fun loving middle aged couple. We are passionate about our home, our family, our friends and each other.
We enjoy good food, good wine and good company.
We are self-employed, and enjoy traveling as time permits. Our two grown children live in California, so that is a favorite destination.
I am a former Innkeeper, and so consider myself a confident, professional host.
If you want privacy and quiet, we totally respect that. If you enjoy socializing with your hosts, you won't be disappointed.
