Interaction with Guests
Portmagee Seaside Cottages is a family run business. The family is made up of Elizabeth and Francie and our children Paul (studying Engineering in Galway), Aisling (living and working in Australia) and Roisin (living and working in Luxembourg). We also have a farm with pedigree Charolais cows and ducks (which occasionally lay eggs which we are happy to share!). We have good local knowledge of all that is going on, we can recommend nice places to visit and know all the local boat and activity operators. In our spare time (which can be limited!) we are avid walkers. We would be happy to advise our guests on walking routes in the locality and time permitting might also be available to lead our guests on a walk.
Our cottages and farmhouses are located on the world famous Wild Atlantic Way! We are only 4 kilometers from Bray Head which is 1 of 15 signature discovery points on the entire 2,500 kilometer route which goes from Donegal to Cork. There are also numerous discovery points in the locality; we recommend that people download the Wild Atlantic Way app for further information.
Our properties are located just 3 kilometers from the charming fishing village of Portmagee. Portmagee is located in the South West of Ireland in the beautiful county of Kerry. Old Stones Cottage is on its own large site which sweeps down to the sea. We have two moorings in case you wish to bring your boat!
A car is recommended to get around as there is no public transport available in Portmagee.

We thought the cottage and view were fantastic. Elizabeth was very helpful and when we needed something she immediately got it for us, which was very kind. It was a lovely place to stay. Portmagee is a good spot to be for visiting this area.
Great place with great views on the coast!
Everything was clean and Elizabeth was welcoming and can answer all your questions about the region!
Beautiful home and lovely location! Elizabeth's communication was great and she stopped in to check on us and make sure we were well settled in. Great experience!
Firstly Portmagee is a beautiful part of the world. The drive to the cottage alone is unreal, The southern part of the ring of Kerry must be one of the top drives in the world. Elizabeth was a great host and she came to the cottage on our arrival to meet us. The cottage is authentic with stone floors in the older half. Been March it was cold out but there was a supply of turf for us to use and we had an open fire every night which added to the experience. There is a charge of €1.50 per unit for the central heating, we had it on a lot in the mornings and evenings and the cost for 5 days was €30 which is fair. The view is amazing from the cottage, panoramic! out every window. You are looking directly at Valentia Island. Lots to do in the area as in the middle of the ring of Kerry. The Moorings in Portmagee has great food and a great pint of Guinness. Geokaun Mountain & Fogher Cliffs on Valentia is a must see. Overall a great experience and would go back in the morning.
Alles was ons duidelijk in het huisje omdat e.e.a. goed gedocumenteerd klaar lag.
Elizabeth was an excellent host and had a really lovely cottage for us to stay in. She was friendly and extremely helpful during our stay. The views from the cottage and the surrounding area are fantastic. Portmagee is a charming fisherman's village and we often (email hidden)' where we received excellent service and food. Elizabeth went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible by driving us into nearby villages which we were truly grateful for. We would most certainly come back but at a different time of year as it was a bit too cold with many of the local businesses shut for the offseason.
The listing is a short 7 min drive from the Ring of Kerry, with a beautiful view of Valentia Island and Portmagee.
The house is perfect. Insulation is good, we stayed in December, and turned the heating off in the morning when we left. By the evening, when we came back, the house was still warm.
Very private, with no direct neighbours, this is a perfect spot for a getaway.
Elizabeth was very hospitable, providing extra linens and towels.
One comment, is that this is a self catering unit. Expect to bring your own salt, pepper, butter and oil.
