Breakfast
This is one of a few places in the area that has this feature.
Pukaki Air Lodge is positioned in a unique location on Pukaki Airfield (2km north of Twizel). Guests will wake up to uninterrupted views of the Mackenzie Basin, and can indulge in coffee on the veranda outside each room with views to Aoraki Mt Cook in the North.

The Lodge is built right at the end of the Pukaki Airport Runway, so those interested in aviation have a perfect vantage point from which to watch takeoffs and landing of the aircraft that use the airfield by day.

The space
This Family Accessible Room at Pukaki Lodge features 1 Queen bed and 2 Single beds, and sleeps a maximum of 4 people. The room is equipped with luxury beds and linen, hairdryers, free Wi-Fi, a flatscreen TV with SKY Channels, and a private ensuite bathroom (accessible).

The Lodge is built right at the end of the Pukaki Airport Runway, so those who are interested in aviation have a perfect vantage point from which to watch takeoffs and landing of the aircraft that use the airfield by day. There are often gyrocopters, biplanes and your hosts own Nanchang Warbird flying around. Guests can take joyrides or scenic flights in these aircraft on request, giving further unique views of the mountains and many surrounding lakes. By night, clear views of the brilliant stars of the Mackenzie dark sky reserve can be gazed at in absolute peace and tranquility.

Guest access
In addition to their room, all guests have access and use of the shared kitchen and dining room, guest laundry (set hours), beautifully-appointed upstairs lounge and outdoor area with stunning views – a great place to cook a BBQ dinner and relax on a hot summers evening, or to  marvel at the stunning view of the Southern Alps and Aoraki Mt Cook to the north.

Other things to note
The large kitchen is a shared space. A complimentary basic continental breakfast is served every morning from 7.30am. Guests may use the kitchen to cook if they wish.

My husband Muddy and I are passionate about aviation, so we built a hangar / house for our Nanchang aeroplane and ourselves and decided to add some rooms for travelling aviators, as we live on a local airfield. Because we live in the beautiful Mackenzie basin we also want to share our unique property with other travellers and the Alps to Ocean cyclists who pass close by our Property. We have travelled to the Uk and North America and intend to go back to check out all the rich aviation history.
