Dating back from the XVIII century, Sestelo manor-house is located in the heart of Minho, the birthplace of Portugal and the land of Vinho Verde (green wine). Located in the county of Cabeceiras de Basto, less than one hour driving from Porto, Sestelo was once the house of a Portuguese nobleman recently restored to include all the amenities of modern life.
The house old stables were converted into 3 duplex apartments, each with a double or twin bed room, 2 bathrooms with shower, a kitchenette and a living room with a double sofa bed, air-conditioning and TV.
All apartments have use of the swimming pool and of the panoramic terrace, overlooking the vineyard, were you can relax with a glass of “Vinho Verde” after exploring the region. The property is surrounded by vineyards, a watermill, the manor-house chapel, olive trees, fresh water fountains and the “Levada”, and old irrigation channel that you can follow until it enters the mountain.
Come and experience one of the most enchanting regions of Portugal were time has stopped and tradition still dwells in the habits of people.
All cottages are rented with linen and towels as well as towels to use in the swimming pool.
The kitchen is equipped so that you may prepare light meals or have breakfast in the house.
The swimming pool is shared among all guests as is the terrace so if you intend to have your meals outside, take care not to leave dirty dishes or garbage in the area so that others may enjoy the space as well.
The garbage is collected every morning by the house caretaker. Please help us to preserve the environment by recycling your garbage. We have a set of recycling bins next to the cleaning storage to help you with this.
Cleaning service is provided once a week, normally on Fridays or when guests check out. Cleaning utensils are also available in the storage next to the apartment. These are shared among the guests so please return them to their original place after use.
The water used in the houses comes directly from the water springs that feed the property. Please do not drink tap water as it has not been tested for human consumption. You may find potable spring water in the fountain next to the lake.
Most people seek Casa de Sestelo to rest and have a relaxing holiday with their family, so please try to be respectful of other guests and of their space and keep the noise level to a minimum during the night.
