A great place to explore all of New York, in short distance to Manhattan, and in the heart of Bushwick and East Williamsburg - NY's current hotspots! Williamsburg-West is a about 5 train minutes away
Hi there! I am traveling and renting out my newly-furnished room in the artistic hotspot of Bushwick / E. Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The apartment is directly off of the L Train on the Morgan stop, and several other lines (JMZ) and has extremely good connectivity to Williamsburg and Manhattan (15 min to Manhattan, 5 to Williamsburg). Our neighborhood itself is the heart of the Bushwick renaissance - an area of artists' lofts, cafes, underground bars and concert venues.
The apartment has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The great things about Brooklyn are the vibrant hip scene here, and how spacious the places are compared to Manhattan. I suspect our apartment will be a lovely place for your NYC adventures. 2nd floor, nice hipster neighbors, and very quiet (for NY; bedroom facing backyard).
More details: Hardwood floors, Queen-sized bed with brand-new mattress suitable for an individual or couple; ten-foot ceilings, standing desk, kitchen, electric kettle, closet with organizers, full-length mirror, etc. We're also right around the corner from a pleasant little baseball park and a police station (no sirens at night, it's pretty mellow). Of course, broadband internet, nice neighbors included. It's super-quiet (room is in the back). I work in tech / start ups.
What else is there to say? A lot :) Just send me a message and I am happy to chat. Excited to get to know you!
You will have access to everything, except for my bedroom :) which means living room + kitchen, bathroom, internet. Ah yes, and the coolest hood in the coolest city in the world.
Interaction with Guests
You can always reach me via email and phone. I also have a little booklet on the dinner table for written communication, its more personal and works great!
Bushwick, at the border of Williamsburg, is about the coolest place in NYC. Which basically means: on the planet ;) Lots of art, street art, hipsters, underground restaurants, parties and so on.
We are 15 minutes away from Union Square (heart of NYC), and 15 minutes from Downtown / Wall Street. you can use the L train at Morgan stop, or JMZ from Myrtle / Broadway, both a few blocks away.
No excessive partying at night, please. Our neighbors are pretty quiet, after 12 midnight you shouldn't shout or listen to loud music. Also, please always make sure the front door is closed when you enter the building - our neighborhood is OK, but this is New York and it's always better to keep doors closed. If you need anything that's not in the apartment, feel free to ask our neighbors - everyone in the building is very friendly, in the 20ties or 30ties, and fun.
The room was very light, clean and well-prepared as I arrived. 3 minutes from the metro that takes you directly into Manhattan. I personally enjoyed the urban feeling in the area, a lot of street art and music blasting through the busy streets. I didn't meet John but his lovely girlfriend Darin who was a very nice host!
Apartment was as basically as described, bedroom is adequate. Cosy with heater in winter.
Bathroom is small and shared with owners, and kitchen is basic if you plan to use anything for cooking.
John and Darin were nice hosts and stayed out of the way while we were there.
The neighbourhood is grungy, but it's perfectly fine. Didn't feel unsafe at any time.
I did not met John in person (he was an a business trip), but he was always really quick on responding via airbnb and seemed really friendly.
The area looks a bit "run down", but at the same time it is full of street art, small shops, hipster neighbors and I liked that it's not a typical tourist spot. From the nearby metro station you reach Williamsburg and Manhattan in short time.
The room is spacious and bright with a comfortable bed. The apartment isn't as spotless as in the pictures, but I was really satisfied overall. Perfect place for a short stay in New York.
John was extremely kind and helpful. Even though we had unstable plans he was flexible with our arrival and departure time.
His room is enough for 2 persons and his whole flat is very comfy and welcoming.
John knows every cool place in Bushwick and the district is safe and full of good surprises.
John has a really nice apartment. The room is spacious, very light and very clean.
John is a lovely and relaxed host. He was willing to help us at anytime and came up with useful suggestions to make our stay interesting and comfortable.
We would definitely stay here again next time. Thanks again!
John was very pleasant and gentle, and he even gave me a tour through the neighbourhood! The only problem I had is that I thought that I was renting a small apartment, but it was a room. In any case, I felt very well, and the apartment was nice and clean. Once you get used to the area, is very interesting and close to the metro.
Hey there! I am an author and entrepreneur in tech, going back and forth between NYC and SF. I like friendly people, entrepreneurs, and everyone who likes to travel, do new things, and check out the awesomeness of New York. I am pretty clean and considerate, and like my roommates to have similar values. As a host, I am mostly not there ;) but if I am there, I mostly had a great time with my guests and normally end up doing stuff together. Always happy to show you around in Williamsburg and Bushwick. I love that today everyone can easily travel and see the world, and am happy that I can be part of it. I also love startups, and am very proud of Y-Combinator and Airbnb. Thanks guys.
