About This Listing
This room has a private bath with shower, a view of town and is newly redecorated, with new bed, linens, furniture. Our rooms are all small, and simple. But cute. We just opened the beginning of March.
I had a wonderful stay at the Trillium Cafe & Inn over Memorial Day weekend! The room was perfectly clean and had wonderful views of the local shops as well as the ocean/headlands down the road! The location was also perfect for exploring by foot. As I mentioned, the headlands are practically right across the street. I would often go for walks and then take a short break in my room before heading back out again. All of the shops are also within walking distance.
I didn't get a chance to try dinner in their restaurant, but it smelled absolutely delicious (I'll have to come back!). However, I did get to eat an amazing breakfast provided by the host (waffles yum!). If you're planning a visit to Mendocino, I'd highly recommend staying (and eating) at the Trillium Cafe and Inn. I'll definitely be back!
The Trillium Cafe and Inn with out a doubt was one of best Airbnb stays that I have experienced. The room and the cafe were both exceptional and the meal we had there was wonderful. Sandra and her husband were both helpful and delightful to talk too. Also, Mendocino was a delight.
We got to the Trillium just 5 minutes before lunch ended. They served us happily and the food was tremendous! The owners were SO nice. The Inn is beautifully restored. Marnie, who waited on us for lunch, was incredibly charming and nice! This set the tone for the next 24 hours for us as we explored Mendocino. Coming "home" to the Trillium after a long day of walking about, and having another terrific meal, again with Marnie assisting, was like butter cream icing on the cake! I highly recommend the Trillium Cafe and Inn. Another highlight was the tip from the owners to look for seals sunning on the buoys near the point. We definitely plan to visit again, and will absolutely reserve a room at the Trillium.
The owners were so pleasant and took time to chat even though hard at work. The raised garden out back (including herbs for the kitchen) was a pleasure to see even while they were working on part of it. The location right downtown, yet less than a block from access to the bluffs overlooking the ocean was tremendous. You could spend a whole day shopping, or hiking, or both. But don't be late for breakfast, lunch, or dinner as the food at the Cafe is another attraction to enjoy.
All of the staff we encountered were extremely courteous, frinedly, and helpful. I couldn't suggest a single improvement.
As this is a historic building, certain items could not be changed. So that is why two of the rooms share a bathroom. It is not out of shortsightedness or cost-cutting by the owners. It is law. You will see from the beautiful property they did not cut corners.
I wish them all the best, and wish myself luck in getting to visit them again very soon. Thanks Sandra and All!! Dave from Kansas City, MO
Our plane was late and we still had some sight seeing to do, so we gave our hosts a call and they ensured us our key would be there waiting for us although they would be closed for the night at 11. After a 5 hr long drive from San Fran & being on a 6+ hr plane ride from NYC we awoke for at 4 AM OUR TIME, the bed was comfy cozy. Breakfast was light, but amazing--freshly baked cinnamon buns and yummy organic fruit parfait. Overall, the experience was a warm welcome after a LONG journey to Cali.
NOTE: Room #3 is the only one with a private bathroom.. and it was awesome.
After a long day of driving, we weren't able to check into Trillium until late but we got in touch with Sandra by phone and she left a key for us to get into the building--super easy! The cafe is located on the first floor and the three rooms on the second floor. We were the only guests for the night so our stay was very quiet and restful. It was wonderful to wake up the next morning with a nice view of the ocean beyond Mendocino and we ate delicious parfaits (with coffee) for breakfast. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to fully explore Mendocino but I would definitely recommend Trillium to anyone passing through!
The Trillium is a pretty, immaculately decorated place to stay. The room was comfortable with peaceful decor complete with a pretty vase of flowers on the table and a welcome chocolate and water. It was very central in the town so convenient for a walk or shops. We had a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, granola and yogurt, coffee and home made muffin. There was a sea view in the dining area.

About the Host, Sandra
My husband Saul and I bought the restaurant last year and opened in March. We are really enjoying running our own business, and have a great time meeting all our new guests, and creating the new menus for the restaurant.
