We are sometimes up at the cottage next door, but still very private from our renters. We can be available in emergency situations if requested, otherwise we do not disturb our renters.
This spot has so much beauty and adventures to enjoy! The scenery, the sunsets, the water, and all the amenities around. Everything you need is within an 8 minute drive to either of 2 towns. There is lots to do (besides just lounging lake-side); drive-in, golf, spas, dining, Santa's Village, water-ski show, shopping, fruit picking, theatres, and more!
Lindsay was a terrific host, answering questions I had before our stay quickly and responding to issues while we were staying (nothing dire - very minor) at the cottage in a helpful and friendly way. The cottage itself was a sweet spot in an amazing location. The beds were comfy and the living room was a relaxing place to hang out. We were thrilled to be able to use the raft (from the cottage next door) as a jumping-off place (ha) as well as the paddle boat. A highlight was canoeing in the quiet bay and venturing out to see the beautiful boathouses for which Muskoka is famous.
The unit is even more lovely in person than the photos do it justice. Simple, clean, cozy, and very well-stocked with all the essentials (dishes, pots, pans, knives, water) for a great cottage visit. The waterfront is 30 seconds from the cottage and you can hang out on the dock that is attached to the boat house (which comes equipped with a few big floatie tubes, and some pool noodles). There's also a great visitor's manual in the cottage which covers any questions guests may have including where to go for groceries, what restaurants to visit, and other activities that can be done in the Port Carling and surrounding area. I would definitely return!
I love to travel; have been to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and Asia...South Africa is still on my bucket list! But...Muskoka will always remain my favourite place. I was fortunate to have grown up spending summers at my parent's cottage, and I now vacation there as an adult a lot. In my teens I worked at Resorts in the area. My husband and I celebrated our marriage at The Kee to Bala, (a historic and rustic concert hall icon in the area) it was pretty awesome! My family and friends are the most important people to me. We are new to aribnb. My parents bought this property in 2012, it is beside what has been our family cottage for over 30 years. It is still very private and we respect our guests by not interfering but are close by if needed. We put a lot of work in to making it clean and fresh and inviting.
