Interaction with Guests
Our building abuts the tracks leading to Cologne Main Station, making transport easy (see below), but the trains are audible as they pass by.
Your hosts: we speak English, German, Italian, and some French and Spanish.
- Subway (U-Bahn): 5 minute walk
- Commuter rail (S-Bahn): 5-minute walk
- Cologne Main Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof): 14 minute walk or 1-minute S-Bahn ride
- Car: not recommended. We're convenient to highways, etc., but parking is difficult to find in our inner city location.
Cologne trade fair:
5-10 minute S-Bahn ride – extremely convenient!
Shopping, culture, food:
In 15 minutes, you can walk to the Cathedral, which is the geographic and emotional heart of the city. Within a 20-minute walk, there are probably hundreds of restaurants and pubs (and we can recommend a few if you'd like!), dozens of museums, dozens of old churches (Romanic, Baroque, Gothic, and more), and a great deal of shopping (if that's your thing). Adding the city subways to the mix, you can be pretty much anywhere in the city within 20-30 minutes.
Other Things to Note
If you are a piano player and need to practice, we can offer the piano in our apartment.
Absolutely no smoking - thanks!
The building is somewhat "acoustically transparent" and children live here. Please be considerate in terms of noise level, especially in the evening and at night.
