Airy, comfortable open space. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Close to Roseau- 7 minutes. Lots of fans, sea breeze, wi-fi and Cable -TV. Private and safe complex.Comfort and convent. Great cooking facilities, laundry and relaxing space.
This apartment has a fabulous view of the ocean - including seeing the sunset every evening over the ocean! It's a 10-minute-walk / 1-minute-drive down to the seafront road. The main living space (lounge+dining-area+kitchen) is open and really nicely spacey, with views (via the double-doors) straight onto the balcony and out into the ocean. We spent most mornings diving (excellent Dive Dominica is 1-minute-drive away) and most afternoons working in the apartment or out on the balcony. It suited us perfectly - a really nice space to work, relax and cook/eat in. It gets quite hot, but the fans help a lot with that - and, well - you have to expect heat in Dominica - that's half the point of going! The main bedroom also is really nice and looks out onto the ocean view, and is a nice space, with lots of windows, all with insect meshes on - so it was never hot at night.
Faye was a fabulous host - always really fast to respond to our queries and requests, and stunningly helpful (and fun!). She clearly cares a lot about people having the best time possible in Dominica.
Summary: We loved our time on Dominica - it's a beautiful island - very unspoilt - with pristine diving, tough but lovely hiking and a great place to spend time generally. The apartment was exactly what we wanted - particularly as we were spending 3 weeks there - and Faye was a wonderful host. We would recommend it all!
Faye was a fantastic host from the beginning of our trip right through until the end. Although she had waited for us outside the ferry port for almost 2 hours while we queued through the painstakingly slow passport and customs lines - she greeted us on the other side with a huge welcome and took us under her wing from the word go. After taking us out to lunch in a lovely restaurant in town, we headed back to the apartment which blew us away. It was spacious, clean, bright and in a perfect location. The kitchen area opens out onto a balcony with impeccable views of the ocean, which allows prime viewing for the beautiful sunsets on the horizon. The house was well equipped with plenty of towels and sheets, beds were huge and comfy. The neighbourhood felt really safe, up on the hillside, close enough to Roseau town centre. Quick downhill walk to the petrol station and taxis/buses pass by within minutes, really cheap 5/10minute ride. The apartment slept 4 of us very comfortably and the two bathrooms were a great luxury. It was a pleasure to stay at Beau Bois and meet Faye and Bentley, would definitely return given the opportunity!
Si c était a refaire j y retournerais ;)
Dominica was not what we expected. It is truly a third world country. This location is at the top of a hill just south of Roseau, and is pretty convenient to many locations on the SW part of the island. With that said, there is no a/c (the ones in the picture have their cords cut) and no screens on the doors. Make sure you bring plenty of bug spray (Chikungunya virus is rampant there...I came down with it shortly upon my return home).
Faye is a passionate and friendly host, however this is not her personal flat and she was not fully aware of some of the conditional issues. We had issues with fans not working, the a/c not working, and with the water being shut off for nearly an entire day. None of this is Faye's fault, it is just the nature of living in a a 3rd world country, but make sure you're prepared.
Dominica is not for everyone- although Bentleys apartment is lovely - with an amazing view, its not without some problems.
I have tried to correct some but not all. There are many fans and the place is well aired.
Water on the island of 365 river is sometimes a problem. The water goes out sometimes as they clean the lines.
When you live here you become tolerate and accepting of many things- its hard for tourists.
Carraig thanks for coming and maybe moving here may not work?

Me- well I'm in my sixties-
Grandmother of five.
Came here as a Peace Corps volunteer and just got involved in too many things to leave. My work, my students and friends keep me here. My only problem was money so thats why I do airbnb- it pays the bills. The other side of it is I meet so many people. New friends from all over the world. Thanks!
