At the gateway to Connemara but convenient to Galway city and to Barna with good supermarket+some nice pubs+restaurants. Gorgeous view of Galway bay and the Burren out the windows and there are lovely walks by the beach and in the bog nearby.
Wake up to a beautiful view from your bedroom window of the sun rising over Galway Bay and the Burren, with the Aran Islands visible on the horizon. Even on rainy, dull days this view is incredible.
You will have access to your bedroom, the kitchen and both bathrooms. There is also a beautiful front garden facing the ocean with chairs and table for relaxing or for dining al fresco.

We'll be around or closeby most of the time. If you like dogs, you can also have fun with Popeye! He's a one-eyed rescue dog and will be quite barky when you come to the door but apart from that, he's a sweetheart and loves to play fetch all day long. If you don't like dogs, he will leave you in peace!
Lovely walk by the sea outside the house. There's also a road that leads up to the bog behind the house. This is also a great walk to do. Barna and Spiddal are both within 5-10 mins drive. The Connemara Coast, The Twelve Pins, O' Grady's on the Pier and Builin Blasta are all good restaurants and a short drive from the house. Padraicin's is a 3 min walk and also serves great food.
Located about 14 miles outside Galway city. For those without a car, there are a few buses that pass the front garden going into Galway and will stop for you if you flag them down/ request a stop. However the last bus returning home from the city is very early... before 9pm, I think. So if you're going out in Galway city for the night, you need to get a taxi home. Barna Hackneys' fare is around 20 euro. They are usually good about letting a few groups or individuals share a minibus. If you ring them, they sometimes organise a minibus at pub/club closing time that does the rounds of south/east Connemara dropping everyone to their doors.
Pets allowed only if house-trained.
Please leave the room clean and neat as you found it.
There are people/families living in the apartments on either side so we ask you kindly not to shout or make noise between 11pm and 8am.
No smoking inside the house.
A.J. was the sweetest host. She even surprised me with treats and candles on my birthday! She is a genuinely warm person with a sweet dog and her home is beautiful and clean and comfortable. The upstairs bedroom is a great place to cozy up and get a good night's sleep and hot shower. This is the perfect jumping off point for the Aran Islands - either by ferry or plane. We took the early flight to Inishmor in the morning and it was a super easy short drive to the airport from A.J.'s place.
Es war eine schöne saubere Unterkunft. Toller Blick aufs Wasser. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Unser Hund hat sogar ein kleines Willkommensgeschenk bekommen :-) Vielen Dank!
A. J. Flavin is a very nice and attentive person. She was very careful with us and it was a pleasure to spent one night in his lovely house. We keep a good souvenir of her and also of her kind dog Popeye!
We had a great time at Julie's place. It's a nice spot, not far away by car from Galway. You just have to cross the road to go to the beach. From the apartment you have a great sea view which is really pleasant. The apartment is comfy and clean with all the necessary equipment to cook your own food.
Julie is a great host, flawless communication, quick answer to our requests. She really intends to make you feel like home, she even invited us to go to local music event with her.
We definitely recommend this place, you won't regret it !
