About This Listing
This comfortable, 2nd floor apartment is located in Shinjuku-ku and gives you easy access to major areas of Tokyo. The room offers a new, semi-double bed (perfect for couples). There is a balcony, full kitchen and a clean, excellent bathroom.
Kagurazaka, the neighborhood, has a sloping street at its center, lined by numerous cafés and shops. It is experiencing a popularity boom due to its traditional, sophisticated atmosphere on the edge of modern Shinjuku ward and proximity to Waseda University.
While it retains a traditional Japanese atmosphere, Kagurazaka now boasts a significant French presence with many French expatriates living in the area due to the proximity of l'Institut Franco-Japonais de Tokyo and the Lycée franco-japonais de Tokyo's primary section. Kagurazaka also boasts Tokyo's largest concentration of French eateries.
Kagurazaka is also widely regarded as an important center of Japanese cuisine within the Kanto region. Several old and famous "ryōtei" are to be found in the beautiful winding back streets, often accessible only by foot. These ryotei provide exquisite "kaiseki" cuisine, which is generally regarded as the pinnacle of Japanese food. Ryotei also allow diners to invite geisha to provide entertainment during the course of the evening, and the neighborhood is among the last places in Tokyo where Geisha girls can be seen on the streets at night.
The place is close to Waseda University, Shinjuku, Shibuya, many other points of interest, and plenty of 24-hour convenience stores. You are also a 4 minute walk to the nearest subway (Tozai line) and a 7 minute walk to the next closest (Yurakucho line). Lastly, there is Internet access and heating/air conditioning in the unit.
Fantastic restaurants abound in Kagurazaka. There are twisting, old cobblestone side-streets to explore. The sakura trees in late March/early April are awesome. The Kagurazaka summer festival is pretty rad, too!
Super convenient location!
1. No smoking inside the apartment. You can only smoke on the balcony.
2. Leave the room and apartment in the clean state that it was in when you arrived.
3. Keep the noise down past midnight for the neighbours. No parties or large groups of guests over at any time.
Great host, best location with full facilities, only room for improvement is that the bed could be bigger (for a couple)
Very good host- very friendly and helpful. The apartment is very conviniently located - 5 min walk to a centrally located metro station. The room is clean, cozy and stylish, we also enjoyed the music system. Only room for improvement is the bed is a bit small for 2 people if u are used to big beds and stay for more than just a couple of days.
The reservation was canceled 18 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a great stay for one week at Rob's place in Tokyo. It was centrally located, close to lots of great sights and also the metro station which made commuting simple. Rob was a wonderful host and was very prompt and helpful in his communications and provided useful tips and guidelines for the use of his apartment. The apartment is well suited to a couple travelling. There apartment has lots of character and is full of great books and artwork. I would recommend this place. Thank you for a great stay Rob.
Rob's apartment was a great place to stay in Tokyo. It was very convenient for 2 people, clean, nicely decorated and personalized with some of Rob's art and even quite spacious compared to Japanese standards.
We really appreciated the neighborhood, quiet and japanese style, close to metro stations which were very convenient. The restaurants and bars all around where great too.
Rob was very nice, helpful and easy going, responding to emails and allowed us staying longer because our traveling plans had changed.
We highly recommend Rob's apartment.
Robs place was a great base to explore Tokyo. Kagurazaka is a nice little neighbourhood, and there is a fantastic Soba-restaurant just opposite the appartment as well as many other tasty eateries only a few hundred meters away.
The place itself has a lot of personal touches to it, which make it a pleasant home for even a longer stay. The bed is comfortable and easily sleeps two. Wifi is not mentioned, but is actually available. Rob was very flexible and getting the key was easy.
On the downside, there is not much space to stow away your stuff. The place was also quite dusty when we arrived as Rob had been gone for a few weeks. But this was more than made up by the personal atmosphere of the place.
