Interaction with Guests

My family and I live 1/2 a block from the Westside Cottage, so I am available for questions during your stay. We have, however, set up the house with a house key lock box and lots of local info to allow guests to feel immediately at home from the moment they arrive.

The Neighborhood

This is my favorite neighborhood in Bend! I have lived here all my life and this is where I have chosen to put down roots. I love the proximity to parks, the river, and the walkability to everything you need. I like being in the center of it all, but still being located in a quiet neighborhood.

Getting around

The Westside Cottage is located conveniently close to grocery stores, restaurants, trails, shopping...everything you need, you could walk to! Bend does not have an extensive public transit system, but by staying here, you won't need it.

  • The place was impeccably clean and ready for our stay. The entire experience was perfect for us. There was even a travel toothpaste in the bathroom for us to use! The house was very comfortable and exactly as described with tons of light and the location was perfect. Just a a few blocks from lots of Bend's gems and very peaceful.

  • The Red House was perfect for our stay. We were within walking distance of the shuttle up to Mt. Bachelor and there was easy walking and driving access to downtown Bend. Katie was also very responsive to any questions we had.

  • Cutie and cozy house. Excellent value. Very centrally located with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and Mt Bachelor. Friendly and communicative owner who even helped us shovel snow to clear a parking space after a large snowfall (definitely above and beyond the call of duty).

  • We loved staying in this cozy cottage. The location is beyond desirable. We were able to walk to everything, from downtown, the Old Mill, wonderful restaurants, and even a late night walk to Safeway was no big deal. The only thing I would caution is that the "queen room" is just a loft above the stairs without a door, and you have to walk past the bed to get to the cute little room with the two twins. The couple that stayed in the queen room had to buy ear plugs for our second night, but otherwise, it was better then we could have hoped for! We love Bend and we would love to stay in this little red cottage again! :)

  • We had a great experience staying at this cottage. The place was clean, with plenty of towels and linens. It was a great place to come back to after skiing Bachelor. Great location as well. Would definitely stay here again on another trip to Bend.

  • Katie's place was great- the perfect amount of space for a small group of friends. Everything was clean, easy to find, and as described. Thankfully, she left a ton of towels for us, because if you're visiting Bend properly, there's a lot of cleaning up to do. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to any friend looking to go adventure in Bend without spending much.

  • There isn't a place with more character or accessibility to all Bend has to offer. Besides it's incredible condition, the house has tons of space. Would recommend this place ten times out of ten!

  • Location, location, location! We loved the adjoining park for our grandkids, the 2 minute walk to the Deschutes River trail for our dogs, and the few minute walks to bakeries, restuarants, the Old Mill mall, and downtown. The house is comfotable, plenty of space and beds for our extended family. The hosts provide plenty of luxurious towels and bedding. The kitchen is well stocked, although there is no dishwasher. We will definitely come back to this cottage when we return to Bend.

  • Cute little house! Located close to downtown, very close to the Old Mill district. The owners have provided a very detailed map and guide book of their favorite places and helpful tips. Plus they are close if any concerns arise. We will be back!!!

    October 2013
  • My family had a nice stay at the house and Katie did a good job making sure we had all the information we needed for our visit. For a family with kids it was a little tighter than we thought and the steeper stairs made us nervous. It was nice to have our pet accepted, but contrary to the pictures the yard wasn't fenced, forcing us to leave our dog indoors while we were away.

Otherwise, the place was comfortable and served its purpose. A big thank you to Katie for returning the dog leash we left behind!
