This is the Little Blue Room. Note that this room only has a skylight, no windows, therefore it is hot in the summer. We furnish (website hidden) false publicity here, it will be hot during the summer months. That is also why it is cheaper.
The 9 1/2 B and B is like dropping in at friends place but not expected to spend anytime with them...When you get here, we'll show you the place, explain how it works, give you a virtual tour of the city on the map, answer your questions and then, wish you a good stay in Montréal...The spirit of a youth hostel but in the privacy of your room.
Our place is a 6 bedroom Bed and breakfast, but don't expect us to cook you breakfast, you make your own: we set out the goods the night before: Montreal's best bagels, jam, cream cheese, yogurt, juice, fruits, cereal, milk, and of course coffee an tea ...So no need to get up early, you can eat whenever you like...
The location is perfect, we are ON the boulevard, the Main as we call it, home to Leonard Cohen and Mordecai Richler, the hip Plateau neighborhood, and walking distance to the new hipsterhood, the Mile End. Everything is walking distance...The Mountain as we call it is just a couple of minutes away.
The french Lonely planet (Le Guide du Routard) says: "the gem we dream of finding in a city...." You won't be disappointed!!!
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at 9 1/2. We were there for one full week and it was exactly what we needed - the comforts of home in a big city. Jean is a fantastic and very accommodating host who is happy to help. If you are unfamiliar with Montreal, this would be the perfect place to stay as it is located in a fantastic area. Though there are quite a few rooms in this bnb, we were able to sleep well due to the quiet nature of the apartment. I will be staying here again next time I am in the city - I can't wait to go back!
My husband and I had a great time in Montreal, thanks to our stay in this cute, affordable B&B right in the middle of a great neighborhood. Jean was a great host, who met us after we were running late, gave us a map with some nice walking paths and other destinations. He even upgraded us to a larger room since there weren't many rooms booked the weekend we visited.
The B&B really is like staying at a friend's house, with a shared bathroom but plenty of privacy in your own room. We would definitely recommend for an inexpensive but clean and convenient place to stay for a few days in Montreal.
Gret place to stay in Montreal! Jean is really welcoming, the house is in a really good state and central without being noisy, perfect to discover the city!
Our stay in Montreal was great especially because of the perfectly situated cosy place. The big room is absolutely nice. The Little Blue is as described. Jean was very nice and helpfull. If we go back to Montreal, we'll make suure to stay there again.
Nice, clean place, well located on the Main. Jean was friendly and informative -- told us where to park inexpensively (or free if you're lucky!). Thanks for the great stay in Montreal!
Awesome! See the other review I left.
Jean's place epitomizes the best of what airbnb is about -- his hostel offers a perfect combination of privacy, comfort, and flexibility. There are huge bonuses that come with us staying at "9 and 1/2" (you will have to visit them to learn what that means): the biggest bonus is Jean himself. He helps you map the city according to your own taste and the length of the stay in the city. More importantly, we engaged intellectually on important cultural, socioeconomic, and political issues and became good friends in the process. Go visit him, and your stay at "9 and 1/2" will become an interesting part of your Montreal stay!
