Grand San Francisco style home perfectly located in Warm Springs neighborhood. Many national and international dignitaries have enjoyed evenings in this gracious living room and taken meals in the formal dining room as it was formerly owned by Bethine Church, the venerable widow of renowned Idaho Statesman Frank Church.

A brief walk from the State Capital, downtown restaurants & bars, the Boise River Greenbelt, and trail access at Military Reserve Park. With all of these wonderful destinations less than a mile from home, this is a location that cannot be beat in Boise.

Rent the entire house for a family reunion, a graduation, but please be advised that only 12 guests are permitted--day or night. If you will have more for a particular meal or event please inform me prior to booking. We can also make the home available for longer term stays; bring the entire family for your St. Lukes or Elks residency.

Interaction with Guests

The Neighborhood

This neighborhood is unbeatable for access to all things Boise. BSU, The Foothills, The Greenbelt, Downtown, The Zoo, The Arts District, the Farmers' Markets and the Boise River are all within 1 mile.

Getting around

Public transportation in Boise is terrible/non-existent. If you are here during warmer months and do not need to leave the downtown core then bicycle is the preferred method of transportation. In winter a car is fairly critical.

  • Great stay with hospitable and flexible hosts! This house was perfect for a 4 day business trip with four colleagues. Location was ideal for business meetings and it is within a few blocks of great hiking trails.

  • I attended my daughter's wedding and decided to stay in one of the airbnb places as i have an airbnb place myself. The wedding was perfect and so was my stay with James family. I recommend the place without hesitation. Thank you, folks , for making my stay less stressful and for being part of the airbnb family.

  • Elisabeth and James provide very comfortable and gracious hospitality in their home located within walking distance of downtown Boise.
While I was occupied with the Exergy Bike Tour during much of my 6 night stay, I was always offered a cup of tea and a chat on my return. This was much appreciated as I was travelling on my own.
If I ever return to Boise, I would not hesitate to repeat this choice of accommodation.

  • Our stay at the house was amazing! James was a fantastic host. Our group rented the entire house for a long weekend and it was really lovely. The house is located so close to downtown and while we didn't go there often- it was nice to be so convenient.

The Stead home is warm and inviting- but ample in size. It's a great place to stay in Boise whether on your own, as a family/ couple, or in a large group. The house won't disappoint nor will your host! Thanks again James.

  • Staying at James's house was wonderful. The house was beautiful, spacious, and in a great location. James and his family were helpful, caring, there if we needed them and gave us space when we were okay (which was pretty much most of the time). I can't say enough about the accommodations and support. And the flowers were a really nice touch. I highly recommend James and his house to anyone looking for a wonderful Boise experience.

About
We enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to Boise. We have plenty of experience in doing that; in a typical month we have visitors for 15+ days. We will happily provide tips for dining, entertainment, or outdoor adventure. We also completely respect the need for privacy and solitude; there is ample space to check out with a book or your thoughts. We are relatively new to Boise--6 years here--and still see many of the unique treasures with the eye of a tourist. We enjoy large family meals at home, and get out to restaurants and performances weekly. Kayaking, biking, hiking, and coffee shop lounging are all in a days work for us.
