Ubud is considered as the cultural and artistic center of tourism on the island of Bali
The main street is Jalan Raya Ubud, which runs east-west through the center of town. Two long roads, Jalan Monkey Forest and Jalan Hanoman, extend south from Jalan Raya Ubud. Puri Saren Agung is a large palace located at the intersection of Monkey Forest and Raya Ubud roads. The home of Tjokorda Gede Agung Sukawati, the last "king" of Ubud, it is now occupied by his descendants and dance performances are held in its courtyard. It was also one of Ubud's first hotels, dating back to the 1930s.
The Ubud Monkey Forest is a sacred nature reserve located near the southern end of Jalan Monkey Forest. It houses a temple and approximately 340 Crab-eating Macaque monkeys.
Ubud tourism focuses on culture, yoga and nature. In contrast to the main tourist area in southern Bali, the Ubud area has forests, rivers, cooler temperatures and less congestion although traffic has increased dramatically in the 21st century. A number of smaller "boutique"-style hotels are located in and around Ubud, which commonly offer spa treatments or treks up nearby mountains.
The Moon of Pejeng, in nearby Pejeng, is the largest single-cast bronze kettle drum in the world, dating from circa 300BC. It is a popular destination for tourists interested in local culture, as is the 11th century Goa Gajah, or 'Elephant Cave', temple complex.
The Blanco Renaissance Museum is also located in the town

Dany's place is in a really lovely part of Ubud overlooking rice fields. The apartment was spacious and modern, with a very nice pool at the back.
Dany's villa is a great little retreat, in a really convenient location. The villa looks over a working rice field, and is on a quiet back road that leads in one direction to the centre of the Ubud shopping area and, through a pathway, to the Monkey Forest tourist attraction.
The villa is clean and very comfortable and it's easy to while away the hours by the pool or in the living room. The bathroom is a real treat with marble throughout with great natural light and a bathtub inside to soak in, and a beautiful outdoor shower in a private courtyard behind the bathroom. There is also a large wardrobe/dressing area, which we didn't use in our short stay. The bedroom looks over the pool and the rice fields. The large bed has a mosquito cover and the room is air conditioned. Dany has provided mosquito repellants as well so we had no trouble with insects at all. The living room has comfortable leather sofas, DVDs and hifi so is a great spot to relax; and to watch it rain if you're lucky enough to visit Bali in the beautiful wet season from December to February.
There is a full size kitchen with basic equipment and a coffee drip machine which was a welcome touch. It would be a 15 to 20 minute walk to the shops, so it was great to have coffee available. We didn't cook in the kitchen but I noticed it has basic pots and pans etc if you want a night in. There's a dining table for two looking over the pool as well.
Other reviews mentioned the wifi - we didn't have any issues. WE didn't try to download movies with Bali's notorious connectivity but we were streaming music from our online service with no delays or problems.
Dany was really helpful and patient while we found our way to the villa (damn you (website hidden) Maps!) and was very flexible with check in and check out time.
We didn't use the breakfast service; Ubud has a wealth of great little cafes you can try; coffee afficiandos will love Senimam Coffee.
If you have a few days, exploring Ubud by foot is an enjoyable way to see the days go by. If you want to cover more ground quickly, perhaps consider a motorbike to get around.
This is a really great spot - I highly recommend it.
We really enjoyed staying at this beautiful villa! It was a close walk into town but it was quiet and felt like we were much farther away from the town area. The private pool, king-sized bed, and living room area were especially great! We would love to come back!
Great place with a beautiful pool, lovely views of the surrounding area and a great place throughout. Huge bed and other great amenities.
Dany was very helpful and communicative throughout, and was very flexible with our check-out time - which made a huge difference to our last day!
Location of villa is also brilliant, as it's in a quiet location but only a short walk to central Ubud.
Would highly recommend staying here - and will definitely use again when next visiting Ubud.
Amazing place, really great host, beautiful location. I have stayed at many Airbnb places and this one is hard to beat- highly recommended!!
My husband and I spent 5 nights at Villa D'Bisma in December for our wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. We arrived just after midnight and Dany was there to greet us at that hour. The villa looks just like the pictures and everything is in great condition. The bed is huge, pool is clean, and bathroom is lovely. We had breakfast at the villa once, it was ok - but preferred going into town for food.
The villa is only a short walk from Monkey Forest Rd (one of the main roads in town). The cleaning staff and Balianese people who live in adjacent villa's are very friendly. As it's on the rice fields there are interesting animals noises throughout the day/night - but nothing that worried us, or should worry anyone thinking renting this villa. Dany provides a local phone and he also organised a scooter for us ($5 a day) which was very easy.
As a wonderful treat, Dany organised a two hour massage for each of us for our wedding anniversary - it was sublime!
We would absolutely return here in the future.
