The Space

We are a peaceful yet full of life place located right on the versatile and lively East Sainte-Catherine Street. We are close from Berri-UQÀM and Beaudry subway station.

Our spacious house features a vast old-fashioned living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, a friendly bar, two bathrooms and two lofts that we keep for regular artistical rehearsal. Included features for every room are :

-Free Wi-fi
-Two shared bathrooms
-Free use washing machine (bring your own soap) / Non-electrical air drying only
-Outside private smoking area (smoking only allowed on the roof, NEVER inside)
-Fridge and food spaces in the kitchen (if you don't have any in your room)
-Sheets and towels
-Lock from outside/inside the room
-Key for the front door

Please note that our house is shared between at least 5 and up guests at the same time. Bathrooms and common spaces are shared. But yet the house is very calm because everybody is out all the time in the city!

Please note also that we don't live there anymore because we have our own private appartments, and because this place has become with time our job. We rent on Airbnb and we also develop in the walls of this house an Art Center since two years. So please note that during your stay it might happen that you have the chance to participate in an artistic event. We are aiming toward making live Montréal's culture itself to our tenants.

If you feel this experience is for you, jump in, you will never have experienced somthing like our place!

----- MEET THE HOUSE! -----
Centennial Apartment
Lamps and weird knick-knacks dwelling with antique furniture and cosy sofas, torn tapestries, crooked hardwood floors and squeaking steps and doors makes all the charm and the warmth of the place. Built in the end of 19th century, The house has been preserved from aging, but in respect of its past, which makes the place very "storytelling"...
Amongst many vocations this place had, we keep artefacts from a past Chinese food restaurant and a retro women's clothes shop. Other non house-related artefacts fill the house. Discover all this while coming to our place in Montreal. And ask one of your hosts to translate what the walls and objects don't tell clearly to everyone...

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Great place right in the centre of town with lots of nightlife nearby. Leo had spot-on recommendations and made our stay quite comfortable. This guesthouse is in quite an old building giving it a warm character.

The subway, St Laurent and St Denis all being within 5 minutes walk made it extra handy. Also managed to get some free overnight parking in the area.

  • La Baraque is a great place, with a great location and great people. Stayed for a couple of weeks and really enjoyed my time there. Everyone in the house was very friendly and considerate.

  • Noémie & MIchael were super easy regarding check-in and check-out! Me and my friends went there from the busstation by feet, arrived late and the keys were already waiting.
We did not have lots of contact with the hosts, as there were more people around and we were the most time outside doing some sightseeing. But all occupants where totally friendly and helpful if you need any "touristy" information ;-)
--> great recommendation: Juilette & Chocolat at Rue Saint Denis - unimaginably delicous crepes!!!! :)

The room is a little tiny and located in the second floor, it is - as quoted - a artists' house and looks like on the pictures. The second bed is directly on the other side, so next to the first bed. If you need lots of space, you might feel a little bit cramped when there are 4 in the room, but I loved it, as it had a kind of french flair (looked like those old artistic appartments in Paris)... ;-)
The room was clean, beds were comfortable. The only problem was, that you cannot open the window and as there were 4 people sleeping in the room the air was really thin and it got quite hot, but for one weekend it was the perfect stay! The price is just unbeatable! :)

And a tip if you also have troubles with the internet, logging off and on helped in my case, as well as restarting the router...
Thanks again for hosting us! Was a great (first) AirBnB experience! :)

  • I had a nice stay. The house is right in the heart of the village and was a great location for Gay Pride. The put together feel of the building works in a charming way. Everythig was clean, other folks staying were friendly and from all over the world. It's a unique place and has a really good vibe.
I could do it again. Thanks!

Response from Michael, Noémie & Tereza:

Thanks for staying at our place! Come back whenever you like. We can't write a personalized review for every guest, but if we write this you are amongst the kind of guests we would recommend to other Airbnb hosts! -Michael-

  • The host were very nice, the location is very good, the place is clean and has a lot of charm but it was in a very bad shape. We must say that the room we got had no option to open the window for fresh air. It was very hot and the fans couldn't help.

  • Great apartment, great location, great people. Stayed for a week and really enjoyed my time there. Everyone in the house was very friendly and considerate. Never saw any dirty dishes lying around and everyone was always willing to help each other with directions, advice, etc. would definitely stay here again.

  • Amazing place right the heart of Montreal! Staying at La Baraque was not just a place to sleep but gave you a real cultural experience while staying there. I will always come back here to stay!

  • The room and house look exactly like the photos, very clean and well kept. We enjoyed our stay here, central location was fantastic. Only thing that would have been great in La Baraque was a window that opens!!
