The home was located in a great part of town, it was very comfortable, and Tess was great company. I would change nothing. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Jane's home is cozy and has everything you need to feel at home in DC. It is well located close to attractions and nice restaurants.
There is a cat in the house, Tess, she is such a sweet heart and it was nice to come back home to her after a day out exploring everything DC has to offer. She is very low maintenance and needs to be fed only once per day.
Jane was very responsive and kind to accommodates all our needs.
She was out of town when we were there so unfortunately we never met her but she made sure we had everything we need.
We highly recommend this place if you are in DC!
Our experience was great. The house is both charming and functional. Jane is a fantastic host. Location is unbeatable, in the center of it all, and yet on a quiet residential street. Head west to Studio Theatre, Wholefoods, Ted's Bulletin, Bar Pilar and the rest of the huge selection of unique restaurants, bars, and shops along 14th. Or head south down 10th St to City Center, the National Mall (museums), and Penn Quarter.
Columbe Coffee, in the cool alley between 9th and 10th and M and N, is awesome. It's next to the ultra-posh Rogue 24 restaurant.
We didn't meet Jane, but she stayed in communication and gave us tips and made sure we were comfortable all the way through our stay. Her place was better than the pictures depict, more clean and modern somehow, yet rustic with a free spirited feel. Located in a really gorgeous area of DC and is close to 14th St., P St., the mall, Dupont Circle, etc.. We stayed at the W by the Treasury building, which was nice, but I preferred Jane's place. Tessa was a treat for us (the teenagers adored her), but she once meowed when we had fed her and we weren't sure if she was ok, but she stopped. She never woke us up or anything. In fact sleeping next to her was totally peaceful.
My mom is going to suggest Jane's place to her sisters who travel a lot. I can't recommend it enough! Its just perfect, spacious, cozy and well situated.
Jane's house could not have fit my boyfriend and I's needs better. It was above and beyond what we expected. The house was in walking distance of everything we wanted to do and the neighborhood is cozy. We are the type that prefer a more home-y feel when traveling instead of feeling like tourists. With Jane's lovely house you get just that! The best bonus to our stay was her lovely cat, Tess. I am not always the biggest cat fan but Tess is such an absolute joy. She greets you warmly when coming home from a busy day of exploring the city. Definitely my favorite cat I've ever met. I wish I could've taken her home! Jane was a pleasure to deal with. She was informative and easy going. She told us all we needed to know and checked in once a day to make sure all was going well. We really appreciated that. We definitely recommend Jane's house for your DC stay. We will absolutely be staying at Jane's when we come back to DC.
My friend and I spent the long labor day weekend at Jane's place and it has been a lovely stay.
Jane has been giving very detailed guidance prior to our arrival, and leaves caring instructions and sticky notes as well. The location is great. Close to national mall and tourist places. The public transit is not that good in DC I feel. We ended up using Lyft or Uber to save our time, and it costs ~$10 to reach most of the famous places of interest, which is great. We have all kinds of facilities we need in the house, and the renovation is charming, which makes us feel like at home. The collections of crafts and pictures are also worth exploring at home. The little cat Tess has been good company during our stay, and feeding and playing with the cat every day has been quite an extra enjoyable experience (Jane has left cat food for us to feed Tess). The only thing I wasn't expecting was that coming from west coast I was not aware of the mosquito issues in DC, and we got bitten quite a bit the first day. But later I know that it seems to be pretty common in DC. Once we opened the AC at home, it's no longer that bothering. Just in case you are visiting during the summer, you should be prepared for the mosquitoes in DC.
Overall it has been a great stay, and Jane has been a very kind and helpful host. We would love to come again if we visit DC next time.
