About this listing
My house is in the middle of an eye catching and historic neighborhood called Federal Hill. You won't need a car to visit many sites downtown. The house itself is very quaint and comfortable with exposed brick and large outdoor patio.
Location, location, location. I live in a safe historic neighborhood of South Baltimore called Federal Hill. My house was originally built in the 1840's and is within walking distance of almost everything you need. You will get a real Baltimore experience in this house.
You will have access to the 1st and 2nd floors, the basement and the back patio. The guest room is a bed room that is closed off with its own door.
The 3rd floor is my living quarters and is off limits.
If you are traveling by car, please use the nearest parking garage on West Street. $14 / weekday and $16 on Friday and Saturday.
You can always reach me by cell phone, e-mail, etc. This is my home so I will most likely be at the residence with you. I am an open and friendly guy and if my schedule permits, I can show you around some of the city. I've had a great time with many of my guests. If you want to just be left alone, I'm fine with that as well.
Federal Hill is a very historic neighborhood. The actual "Hill" is a park that has the most spectacular view of the Baltimore. I can show you how to get there. It was once used as a civil war fort in the 1860's. In addition to all of the history, Federal Hill also has some of the best restaurants, shopping and nightlife in the city. Very few tourists come to this part of town so you will get to see the "real" Baltimore.

Baltimore has a free bus service that has two stops within a block of my house. The water taxis are close by too. The Light Rail service is only 2 1/2 blocks away. Penn Station, the main train station, is a 10 -15 minute free bus ride from my house on the northern end of Charles Street. BWI airport is a 20 minute car ride from my house. I am minutes from Interstates 95, 295, and 395.
Taxis, Lyft, Zip Car and Uber are now available in Federal Hill. Several parking garages are also nearby.
I work normal hours during the week. Please make yourself at home while I'm away. Usually I am getting ready for work and in the shared bathroom between 6:30 - 7:00 am. I would love to show off my city and can help you find your way around.
Guest have access to the entire house except the 3rd floor. I also have a large back patio that you can enjoy. The 3rd floor is my bedroom and is off limits.
Interaction with Guests
I will be present during your stay and have my own room on the 3rd floor. It's possible, I could be away for a night or two if you are booking long term.
Federal Hill is a very walkable neighborhood. In fact, it was ranked one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the USA. You will most likely never need a car while staying at my house. Most of the main sights of Baltimore are also within walking distance. The street I live on is also quite photogenic. They don't make neighborhoods like this anymore.
The neighborhood is safe and there is a lot to do. There are dozens and dozens of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. within a few blocks of my home. Almost every weekend from Spring through the Fall will have some special event - Blues and Jazz Festival, Steet Beat Festival, Spring Fest-of-All, Oyster Fest and many more.
Per Visit Baltimore's website:
"Looking for a Kodak moment? It doesn't get any more photo-friendly than Federal Hill. This neighborhood is known for its excellent view of the Inner Harbor and Baltimore skyline, as well as the postcard-perfect walkable streets. Imagine brick-front houses, cobblestone sidewalks and quaint storefronts displaying a diverse range of goods and services. Locally owned shops, restaurants and Cross Street Market, one of Baltimore's cool public markets, make this one of Baltimore's most popular and welcoming areas. People are always out and about in Federal Hill - get out there with them.
You will have your own private bedroom with a queen sized bed. This year I have set up a desk for guests who may want to do some work in privacy. In addition, I have added a small TV with a digital antenna that gets most of the local Baltimore and DC channels. The bedroom includes many brochures, maps, etc that may be helpful in your travels around town.
The best way to get around is to walk. I live close to the inner harbor and my neighborhood is very walkable.
As I mentioned above, I also live close to two bus stops. The free bus service is called the "Charm City Circulator". In addition, you can use hail a taxi, Uber, or Lyft. The Hamburg Street Light Rail stop is only 2-3 blocks away.
Other Things to Note
My basement has a washer and dryer however be careful using the steps downstairs. The steps are steep and I wouldn't recommend going down there unless had a laundry emergency.
No key necessary! My front door has a key code that you must use to open the front door. I will send you an access code shortly before you arrive. Once you have departed, I will delete the code. This is a great system since you won't need to remember to return a key. It also gives you the freedom to arrive at my house whenever you want whether I am home or not.
Feel free to use the TV on the first floor (I now get HBO!).
The number one rule is to have a good time!
No smoking indoors. I have a nice backyard patio where you can smoke with an ashtray. No illegal drugs permitted obviously.
No wild parties or loud music.
Lock the door when leaving the house.
Wash your dishes and plates if you are cooking. Don't burn my house down. :)
Take your shoes off at the front door if they are wet or muddy.
