Come stay in our recently renovated, one hundred year old wooden house, shaded by pecan trees. (Dates currently available for the music conference at SXSW!)
With hardwood floors throughout, there are two bedrooms with queen beds and organic cotton sheets, one which extends into an office that opens through glass doors onto the back lawn; one bathroom with contemporary claw foot tub; a cook's kitchen with stainless steel appliances including pro oven and copper cooking pots; and a comfy living room with a piano and stereo. We have a TV, DVD player, and an iTV that you can connect to your own Netflicks account. The dining area looks through large glass sliding doors onto the deck and backyard with a chiminea. The house is furnished in an elegant combination of contemporary and mid-century design, bespoke lighting, old Texas paraphernalia and antiques, and original artwork.
Austin is an amazing city for music, food, and an outdoor lifestyle, and we're right in the middle of it! We are in a safe and colorful neighborhood, about a 4 block walk to Lady Bird Lake - surrounded by miles of hike and bike trails, parks, and canoe and boat rentals. We are a five minute walk to many of the best places to eat and drink and experience music in the city. We are a perfect location for all that SXSW offers including a 2 minute walk to the Scoot Inn, a 5 minute walk to Fader Fort and East 6th Street, and a 10 minute walk to the convention center and Rainey Street.
We prefer longer stays, and will offer discounts for them, particularly if you don't mind watering the plants! Please inquire.
Must be 25 or older to book.
No smoking indoors.
Absolutely no parties allowed. Please be respectful of our home and neighbors.
Must be conscious of security and lock all doors and windows and set the alarm when leaving the house.
From start to finish, J & P were fantastic hosts. They were very easy to communicate with while we were selecting the home to rent, and provided us with very clear check-in directions.
The house was very clean when we arrived. There were plenty of towels for the five of us, and the beds were really comfortable. The back yard was so cute, but we didn't get too use it too much since it rained for part of our weekend. There was plenty of storage space for clothes, lots of hangers, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need to cook (though we didn't).
If you are the type of person who really enjoys showers, the shower was the only tricky part of the place. You have to climb into a claw-foot tub, and then the water pressure wasn't amazing, but it certainly wasn't the WORST shower I've ever been in. Just something to note if that is important to you. Everything was super clean though.
There were detailed instructions on how to use the stereo and the TV, which we used and really loved.
All in all it was a lovely rental in a cute neighborhood close to Rainey and East 6th area of Austin. We would highly recommend.
We went to Austin for the Grand Prix and found this house to be a perfect alternative to a hotel. Four adults stayed in the two bedrooms and there was plenty of space for all of us. The house was clean and decorated true to it's Austin locale. The location was easy to downtown and the airport. We loved sitting on the back porch for dinner and were even able to BBQ! Jessica and Paul were really great with communicating about the details of the house in advance and they continued to check in throughout the weekend making sure we were taken care of. I would highly recommend this spot for a fun stay in Austin!
We stayed at J&P's lovely east side home for Labor Day weekend. The place was absolutely perfect - spacious, beautifully designed, and safe. I was in love with how cute the house was, and the patio out back with the cactus garden was ideal for sitting outside in the mornings and evenings. The location was also great - we loved being in East Austin with tons of hip bars and restaurants around (and within walking distance of most things we wanted to do). Will absolutely be staying here again next time I'm in town!
The house was great! Easy enough to get to the river, downtown, campus, and the goings on of the eastside. I appreciated the detailed instructions and recommendations provided by J & P. Overall, a great place for me and my family for the weekend.
What a sweet, creative space J & P have shared with us! An artistic surprise everywhere you look and So Austin! J & P where both easy to contact and earnestly helpful. Loved the back yard area to watch the clouds and listen to birds. Next visit we will be sure to rent a car or bikes. Hey, it's Texas- a BIG, spread out state! We were close to downtown fun but always needed a taxi to get to restaurants or larger-than-just-basic stores. Could walk to a little store for a day's needs; ok but not a gourmet's dream...We were glad for the alarm system, we felt secure. Loved the piano! Would stay again :)
