The Space

This is a big bedroom in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment that receives natural light all day, in a safe and quiet neighbourhood, the perfect base for your New York City experience

It is only 1 block away from the Marcy JMZ subway station which takes you into Manhattan in less than 5 minutes (one stop!) and will get you to central park in just over 20 minutes. This apartment is also very close to all amenities you will need, shops, restaurants, laundromats, cafes, parks, etc, and only 5-10 minutes walk to where all the main action happens in Williamsburg around Bedford Avenue.

The room itself has a double bed, draws, built in closet, central heat and air conditioner. The kitchen is big, containing everything needed to prepare a home cooked meal. There is also a very comfortable lounge room with very comfortable couches where you can kickback and relax, listen to music, read a book, hang out. I have a range of different reading materiel about the history of NYC and maps that you can use. The building dates back to 1910, it has no elevator and my apartment is located on the 4th floor. Also, feel free to help yourself to tea, coffee and beers that are usually in the kitchen, basically, make yourself feel at home!

Free WiFi access.

See you soon :)

Any further questions, please don't hesitate to mail me.

P.S. A good friend and i have just rented an amazing 3 bedroom apartment that has plenty of room that would definitely suit your stay here in NYC. If my place is booked already, check this place out!

  • Matthew wasn't at home when we visited in June, so we had the place all to our selves. The living room is lovely and spacious and the bedroom was very comfortable, but as this was our first trip to NYC we didn't spend to much time at the apartment.

  • It was really good staying at Matt's house. I slept really good without any noise or disturb. He is really friendly and if you don't know the area he will give you some advice about what to do. I really recommend to stay with Matt if your are going to NYC.

  • Matt was very accommodating and generous during my stay. He made me feel welcome and was a great introduction to Brooklyn. I definitely recommend him to anyone who needs a place to stay in Williamsburg.

  • We were by matt for a week. We met him only once because our schedules did not coincide. In fact we returned to the apartment only to dine and sleep. The house is OK, the kitchen also comes with moka! very close to the underground Macy av. We recommend! bye

  • It's funny, I never actually met Matt because our schedules never coincided. However, it was a really pleasant stay. It's a surprisingly quiet part of New York, and it's very close to the Marcy station which is extremely convenient. The bedroom is fantastic, and I felt completely comfortable. The neighborhood is also very safe. I would absolutely recommend staying here. I likely will again if I return to New York.

  • Matt was an awesome host! The apartment was exactly as described and perfect for my needs. Comfy bed, great 'hood close to subways and cool shops. Matt was friendly, easy to communicate with and laid back. Will definitely stay here again.

  • My husband and I stayed at Matt's place for a week in March. The pictures are what it looks like in person. There weren't a whole lot of amenities nor did we use the amenities that were provided. We were basically there to sleep. For the most part, it's pretty quiet although the ceilings do squeak from the upstairs neighbors walking. Saw Matt about two times- seems like a pretty chill guy.

The apt alone was great for us; however it was definitely a culture shock for us. Like everyone already said, it's in a Jewish community. You'll have to walk 4 small flight of stairs to get to the apt. The hallways do smell a bit funny-- kind of like sauerkraut. It took a bit to get used to.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. It's cheap, close to the metro, and I didn't have to worry about safety. Recommend!

  • I stayed with Matthew for two times in my trip, from 28.02.2014 to 04.03.2014 and from (phone number hidden).
The district is very good and safe, it's a Jewish district. There are some shops working till late near the house. It's very easy to get to the centre of NYC, J or M train. Also it is perfect for getting from airport, so you dont need to pay 50 dollars for the taxi.Near this place there is a very famous Bedford avenue, so even without using subway you can go sightseeing and even walk across Brooklin bridge.
The flat is very comfortable, though there is no lift in the house. Anyway I only felt discomfort about it when carrying my luggage. Other times it was OK.
The flat was really nice, tidy. There is everything the traveller needs, except maybe hairdryer. For me it was very important that there were all facilities for cooking.
Matthew is very good person, very attentive and helpful. Though he is a very busy and hard-working person, he met me when I came for the first time, gave me all necessary information and even helped me to buy sim-card. I saw him very seldom, mostly during my second stay.
I would highly recommend this place to stay for budget solo travellers like me, and also for several people.
The thing I didnt like a lot that sound isolation is not very good, while staying in this flat you can hear smth happening in other flats. But this lack is compensated 100% by other dignities of this place.
I would say that it's the best choice for a person who is looking for safe stay in NYC near the city centre. The price is really very good, and Matthew is a very good host.

  • We had the best of times at Matt's place. We stayed at his place for 3 weeks and he totally made us feel at home. The bed is super comfy and the apartment is big. There is everything you need in the kitchen and his place is 1 block away from Marcy Ave station (J, M, Z trains) and all the shops around Broadway and Marcy Ave.
He lives in a Hasidic Jew building which can be a bit weird at first but we got used to it after like 2 days.
The neighbourhood is safe at night and you are a $15 cab ride from Downtown Manhattan, and if you prefer hanging out in Brooklyn, he is a 5 min walk from the up and coming Bedford Ave district.
Definitely recommend his place, and definitely staying here next time!

  • Matthew was great. I got in rather late at night on Christmas Day and he went out of his way to make sure that I was able to check in to the apartment easily. The space is very convenient to the Subway, the room is large, and the whole apartment is very clean. I'd definitely stay here again.

I have been travelling the world constantly for the last 9 years of my life and have decided to settle down and call New York City my home (for now). I make music for myself and for other people, as well as DJ. I also love food and have worked as a professional cook off and on for the last 10 years. I know the best spots in NY to eat and experience live music/nightlife, so if you need advice on things to do/see in NYC, i'm your man. I'm originally from Sydney Australia, but have lived all over the world. See you soon :)
