Great apartments. Extremely clean, comfortable, heating units all throughout, within blocks of all the towns amenities, and David even left us a bottle of wine. I felt terrible as I mixed up our itinerary and arrived 3 hours earlier than I told him but he was so flexible and met us right away. Really loved staying here.
This place is a pleasant stop - it is simply furnished with all the basics, and little more. The owners are easy to deal with and friendly on arrival. The main gripe would be with the electricity - as mentioned on their listing, you need to top-up a prepay card on arrival and then need to keep a close eye on the meter reading to make sure you don't run out of heating/hot water in the middle of the night! Probably due to this set-up (the heating is off on arrival), the place is hard to keep warm.
Thank you for your response. There would have been no need to worry about keeping a close eye on the meter if you had topped up by more than the bare minimum (5 EURO). And I am sure you will agree that the whole apartment costing 68 EURO for 4 guests on Easter Sunday night represented excellent value for money!
It was a very clean apartment with lots of space for the three of us :)
It's really near the bus stop, supermarket, a few pubs and take always!
Unfortunately you have to pay for electricity including heating - it was really cold.
David and Maria, the hosts are really nice ! They collected us from the bus stop and were there for any questions or problems :)
David was very friendly and gave us a warm welcome to Callan.
The apartment itself us simple but with everything provided... only slight problem for us was the very cold weather (it was unusually cold, about zero degrees celsius the night we stayed) and the electric heaters in the house struggled to give us enough warmth - something i don't expect will be a problem most times of the year!
Great location, 10 mins drive from Kilkenny, with a Lidl just 5 minutes walk away.
We found David's apartment most suitable for our purposes. Clean, tidy and a very good size in a quiet town but convenient to tour the region. We consider Airbnb'S $40 Service fee to be excessive and their procedures, particularly the validation, cumbersome and overly time consuming. It is not always easy to access wifi and tight procedures are necessary.
David and his wife were very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay. I would recommend their place to any discerning traveler.
