My house is located on a hill overlooking, and 500metres from the town centre of the heritage town of Westport, Co Mayo.Westport, in the County of Mayo, Ireland is a magical town. Many have visited, returned home to pack their bags and move back to live, as I did 13 years ago! We boast an eclectic community who take a real pride in the town.
It is special, and acknowledged as such throughout Ireland, as the best place to live in Ireland. It has the appearance and feeling of a quaint small town but offers a wide range of amenities to worldwide visitors to suit all tastes and levels of fitness.
From playing a round of golf on a stunning golf course at the foot of our holy mountain Croagh Patrick, five minutes away by car or perhaps horse riding along the sandy beach? The choice is endless.
Many visitors feel that they cannot leave without a Croagh Patrick climb. The sense of achievement witnessed by those who climbed is a delight to see. Less strenuous swimming, both indoors or out at a local beach is also available,
The newly developed 42km off road “Greenway” for cycling enthusiasts can be accessed minutes from the cottage. (Local rental available) As can a game of tennis, just at the end of my road.

Katherine is a very nice person, she's kind welcome and not intrusive. Her dog also is very very quiet but lovely. The house is very beautiful, I loved the decorations, furnitures and everything there is modern. The room I've rented was exactly the same as in the picture, and the next door bathroom can provide a warm shower instantly at ay time of the day. I strongly recommend this place, last but not least I want to express the personal opinion that so far this was probably the best Iv'e found since I've started using Airbnb. Way better than the average hotel room out there!
Kate was a very warm and welcoming host, I greatly appreciate the help she gave me while I was in Westport. The bedroom was great with a comfortable bed and felt very private with a lovely clean bathroom. The shower temperature was a bit funny at times but not terrible. The area of Westport was beautiful, all the people were so friendly and on Kate's advice I ended up bike riding the green way - which I highly recommend. Thank you very much Kate
Kate was a true delight, warm, welcoming, gracious and fun ! She offered to pick us up from the station and drive us to restaurants if we didn't want to drive after a few glasses of wine. The room was cozy and comfortable and only a few minutes walk from the center of Westport. And her dog Finnegan - well, we just wanted to bring him home with us.
A wonderful four-day stay in Westport. Accommodations were very clean, comfortable and quiet, the view from the house spectacular, and the town just a few minutes walk away. Kate is the perfect host, helpful, very well-informed, with home-made soup ready on arrival
Westport is a lovely town with lots to see and do, and the people are open and friendly. It was a pleasure to spend time here.
Thanks, Kate, for helping to make it the perfect visit.
Katherine was a great hostess, very welcoming and very kind. She met us on check-in with warm fresh soup and ensured we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The cottage was homely and the open fire at the end of a long day on the Greenway was a warming experience. I would recommend staying with Katherine to anyone.
We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute! Kate and her dog, Finnegan are wonderful hosts and Kate has obviously put thought and care into the space she provides for her guests. We stayed in the private cottage at the back of her property which was perfectly clean, cozy, well equipped and very comfortable. The use of a kitchen and wood burning fireplace was wonderful during the stormy weather we got! There is also a private room available for rent at a lower cost which is also very nice. Both accommodations feature furnishings, bedding and decorations that are all new and really tasteful.
Kate provided delicious homemade soup upon arrival and there was fruit, yogurt and cereals for breakfast.
We felt very taken care of here. If we needed anything Kate was there to help, but we also felt we could relax and had ample privacy.
It was an easy and enjoyable 10-15 minute walk into town and there is a small grocery shop just 3 minutes away if you need something closer.
We would definitely stay here again and easily recommend it to others!
I stayed with Kate for two nights while visiting Westport. The location was great, only a 5/10 minute walk from the centre of town and from the nearby Westport house. House and rooms were great, really comfortable. Kate was a wonderful host, she really went above and beyond to accommodate us. I hope to stay again and I would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Westport.

I believe that our thoughts create our manifested world. No matter how seemingly "bad" our current situation, staying grateful is the key to pure joy.
