We can no longer provide breakfast service at the manor therefore you now have coffee and tea in your bedroom (and bakery shop is five minutes from the manor)
At the top of the hill in the hamlet of Moux sits a distinguished manor house in pink tinted stone from the fifteenth century. It was the property of Guigone de Salins and Nicolas Rolin, founders of the Hospices de Beaune.
A huge farmyard barn, majestic stone walls, a pigeon tower and rows of crops in the fields around - the panorama swings from the Mont Blanc to the western sun and the golden vineyards right in the heart of Burgundy. After a long dormant period, Equivocal and its thick and welcoming walls offers you hospitality in this place where silence and nature reign supreme.
This reawakened heritage building invites you to throw open wide its grand windows - to the enlivening air, the forest sounds and gentle hum of the nearby rivers.
The manor’s spacious guest room with medieval lines, regal fireplaces guarantees relaxation and true comfort.
The village enjoys an ideal location surrounded by some of the finest wine estates of the region, only 12km from Beaune and 8km from Nuits-Saint-Georges.
A special place in the middle of the countryside, when you choose this place you're a guest invited to a medieval mansion...a beautifully renovated little gem, spacious and cozy at the same time. You need a car to get there, but for relaxing and exploring the Burgundy region it's perfect.
There are several rooms available here; we stayed in the private double room in the main building. It's a treat!
Irène is a gracious and interesting host - and she knows how to whip up a fantastic breakfast too.
We definitely plan on returning....if only it could be tomorrow!
We had probably our nicest airbnb stay here-the beautiful roomy and traditional yet modern room was perfect, the shared living room with fireplace and its big airy roof, the picture perfect garden and the manoir itself-spectacular!!
Irene was away in business when we stayed but her lively sister Eleanore took perfect care of us and we couldn't have asked for a more bubbly, friendly and lovely host!
The brekky is great-the best we had in France and the wine in arrival a lively touch. Visited a couples of wineries organised by Eleanore so got a good feel for the local wines, not just the major producers. Also restaurant reservations were made and we were very impressed!
All in all, it's a great memorable place to stay and we would love to go back!! HIGHLy recommend!
This place is just amazing. Everything was perfect: the room, the host (Irene, very friendly and helpful), the breakfast (outside next the wild flower garden), the area...I can't recommend it highly enough. As soon as we got there, we were sad it was only going to be three nights, and we were already starting to think about coming back. Definite highlight of our two week trip!!
This place blew us away! It is absolutely gorgeous and in beautiful French countryside. The room was very large, well decorated, clean and incredibly comfortable. Irene was a wonderful host and went out of her way to help us. She even made us dinner when the local restaurants were closed for a holiday. The food was excellent and she was very kind. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Our stay with Irene was the highlight of a three week trip to France. The setting is nothing short of spectacular. The service is warm and genuine and the food and wine were fantastic. We rode bikes in the surrounding countryside and visited the wineries in the nearby hills. Throughout it all Irene, our hostess, was attentive to our every need and a fascinating person to talk with on topics ranging from art and music to global politics.
My advice for anyone thinking of visiting this area is book here while you can. It's an experience you'll never forget.
My wife and I stumbled on Le Manior while looking for a place to stay in Burgundy for a Europe Trip last May. We couldn't get it out of our heads, the pictures looked so amazing, and eventually we booked a 6 day stay with Irene.
It was one of the best decisions we've ever made.
Irene was the most gracious, fun, accommodating, charming hosts we've ever experienced while traveling. It felt like staying with friend. It's honestly hard to know where to start because there were so many reason Irene was fantastic and why Le Manior is just perfect.
As far as Le Manior itself, the pictures on airbnb speak for themselves really, and all I can say is it really is that beautiful, tranquil and idyllic. We woke up every morning in our giant, fairytale bedroom, the old rustic beams above our heads, with beautiful light pouring through the windows. Breakfast each morning was amazing. Truly, Truly. Something unique and different every day. Not to mention the fresh breads, delicious tea and coffee, and fresh squeezed juice always on hand. And how amazing to kick back, eat, and talk about the day ahead in the rustic and expansive but cozy dining room with it's giant fireplace and wide windows.
We spent many days on the grounds, lounging on giant pillows reading, going on walks around Le Manior. We also were able to explore all of the small, beautiful towns nearby. Irene was so willing to share good ideas about where to go and what to see--on her recommendation we discovered any number of great things that became highlights of our trip including our favorite restaurant, lovely farmers markets, a beautiful winery where we did a tasting, and much, much more.
At the end of the day we'd often spent nights by the fireplace drinking wine, laughing, and sighing contentedly. Dinners at Le Manior were AMAZING too and something I would recommend adding to your stay for at least a few times. Even though we were surrounded by great restaurants there was something more special about sharing a gourmet, home cooked meal made just for us. The very best meal we had on our entire month long trip was our first night at Le Manior, where after a long day of travel, we enjoyed a dinner under the starts with incredible wine and lovely company.
Le Manior is not only just a beautiful place to stay but a historical site and part of a larger vision Irene has for it to serve as an international retreat, venue for artistic events, and much, much more. It was so fun to hear about Le Manior's history and to have Irene share her dreams and plans for the future.
As for Irene herself from the moment we arrived Irene made us feel at home, and not just through the practicals of providing a beautiful place for us to relax, amazing food, and great advice about what to do and where to go. No, honestly, it had more to do with her personality--fun, quirky, respectful, engaging, and hospitable. She made us feel so welcomed, liked and taken care of. Her sense of humor was so quick and smile so ready.
(It was also so fun to get to know Le Manior's architect (who made us an INCREDIBLE homemade lasagna one night), as well as Clémence, who was interning at Le Manior during our stay).
By the time we left it was difficult to say good bye.
If you're thinking of going to France, go to Burgundy. And if you're going to Burgundy do yourself a favor and book this place. You won't be disappointed. For us, our week at Le Manior was one of the most restful, special, delicious, fun, and beautiful we've ever had and something we'll never forget.
Tout etait parfait. Irene est charmante.Le manoir est superbe. Nous avons ete tres tres bien acceuilli.
