I am always available to you and have a great team of friends, cleaning staff and a wonderful assistant, so there is always someone at hand to help, to answer any questions or even to come to the apartment if you have an urgent need. I am usually the one greeting you upon your arrival and if I am away, it is my lovely assistant Hannah. I've been hosting non-stop for over 2 years and you are in excellent hands! I'll touch base with you every couple days to be sure all is well, and try to set you up ahead of time with all the amenities and comforts you will want for an amazing stay.
As an Airbnb host, it's so important to me that my neighbors and my landlord will be comfortable with me, so I ask every guest to keep their noise down and if a neighbor wonders who you are, that you are my friends staying with me. It's simple and once you've made your reservation, we are indeed friends in my book! Thank you for being wonderful guests!
I had a lovely stay at Elle's beautiful little studio on Carmine! Although it's in the heart of New York's West Village, inside you feel all light and airy. It's very whimsical and full of art; There's a great selection of books to read and lots on the subject of the city itself. Although it's only one room she has it divided into two so it feels much bigger. Plenty of room to put your clothes away, a comfy sofa, a big table/desk and a tiny but efficient kitchen. I especially loved all the little amenities she had left for me - snacks in the fridge, toiletries, fresh, fluffy towels - even a blow-drier and flat iron! Elle has created quite a magical space, I slept like a baby. I recommend it highly for any person or couple looking for a sweet time in NYC!
Our priorities when looking at all the many amazing airbnb options in Manhattan were to find somewhere with a comfortable bed, decent shower, wifi and a good location with a nice style. We had shortlisted a few and went with Elle because communications from her were efficient and pleasant from the beginning. We could not have been happier with our choice, which exceeded all our expectations.
We knew a bit about the West Village and knew we'd be happy to stay there but were still overwhelmed by what a fantastic area this apartment is in. Elle's place is surrounded by wonderful restaurants, cafes and delis and there are places of historic, cultural, artistic and film/television significance around every corner. We explored the area and much of the city on foot from this location but there are subways just minutes from the front door that will take you all over NYC.
The apartment is gorgeous, with lots of lovely artistic details and Elle and her friend Mila, who we met for the key handover, are fabulous hosts. Elle checked in with us a couple of times over the course of our stay to see how we were getting on and if we needed anything.
It's a studio apartment but much bigger and nicer than a hotel room would be. The bed is enormous (by our British standards anyway) and incredibly comfortable and Elle provides plenty of bed linen and blankets should you need them. The shower is super powerful and always had plenty of hot water. There are lots of lovely touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible: great toiletries, plenty of fluffy towels, a really efficient hairdryer, guidebooks and restaurant menus, a kettle and coffee maker and Elle has a selection of essential items in case you've forgotten your toothbrush etc.
I feel I should just mention for the benefit of other visitors unused to this system, that the steam powered heating in the apartment is regulated for the whole building and comes on at intervals throughout the day and night. It was fine for us, as we kept the windows open but when they were closed, it did get very hot. It was exceptionally cold outside when we stayed, so nice to be in a toasty warm apartment but it definitely felt counterintuitive to us to have the room overheated and the windows open, but we found this is the norm for New York and not specific to this apartment. I feel bad giving any remotely negative feedback for this wonderful place but it was something we weren't expecting, as it's so very different from what we're used to at home and it was our first visit to the city.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough for the location, comfort and wonderful host and would definitely stay here again.
Elle is an amazing host and this is a gorgeous, perfectly located, apartment!! I had the pleasure of spending the NYE period in this apartment and found the location and the apartment perfect for getting around. It was so nice I enjoyed a day snowed in in that super comfortable bed.
The heating makes some strange noises (at least to my Australian ears) but Elle quickly explained it is powered by steam and set my mind at rest. Noise is minimal (particularly considering the awesome location 1 block away from Bleecker street) and apartment has everything you need.
Elle has lots of basic supplies which is fantastic... including contact lens fluid which I have often been stuck without!
I had a magical trip to NYC and think it was due in part to the good vibes and awesome energy emanating from this west village pad!
Lovely home, gracious host and a perfect neighborhood. Thank you Elle!
Elle's place was an amazing depatrue from the highrise hotels I am used to in midtown. I wanted to experience a different perspective on NY and feel like we got exactly that on our stay in the West Village. The apt was clean and stocked with everything we needed. Great bed by the window. Wireless internet was great, Elle was a txt away if we needed anything. The location is a perfect jumping off point of all things NY. Close to coffee, grocery, great restaurants, dessert, pizza, shopping, parks, subway... everything. Loved getting lost in the village at night, all the best food in NY is close by. The apt was a little loud at night with garbage trucks working late but nothing 2 glasses of wine wouldn't fix. This is the way to visit NY for a personal trip, we loved it and are already thinking about coming back next year!!
Very nice apartment in a great neighborhood in NY.
Elle was a superb host for the vacation.
If you've never stayed in the West Village, it is a must do. Elle's darling place is in the midst of small walking streets filled with unbelievably good restaurants, bakeries, bars, everything. The apartment is on the second floor, an easy walk up, or you can use the elevator. The building is extremely quiet. There is a little street noise from pedestrians, not so mch traffic, if the window is open, but Elle told us to turn on the fan and it blocked out everything. Bed is super comfortable. Shower is fabulous. Elle has stocked her place with all sorts of amenities meant for us, just like a good hotel. She checked in with us several times just to be sure we were happy. The building is old, in keeping with the ambiance of the neighborhood, but Elle keeps her place spotless and just charming.
We are picky, and would highly recommend it!
We had a lovely stay at Elle's apartment! She is meticulous and so is the apartment. Our flight was delayed several hours and Elle was very accommodating in waiting for us. The apartment is clean and so comfortable. The neighborhood is perfect and we were so close to public transportation and so many great restaurants and stores. Elle provides a lot of insider information about the neighborhood and about which restaurants and stores to use. All her advice is spot on. She was available to answer questions during our stay as well. We can't wait to visit again!
We had an absolute ball staying at Elle's apartment!!! The apartment itself we found was clean, roomy and well thought out. The king size bed was superb. The location was perfect with a 24hr minimart, 10+ restaurants and a gem of a coffee house along the street as well as 2 very close subway stations to get you everywhere you need to go. street was always safe and not too busy at all. We are so happy we decided not to stay in a hotel which all seemed close to Times Sq where its crawling with people and traffic else we wouldn't have been able to unwind so well and take in a real sense of the NY lifestyle. A big thumbs up to Elle who left us feeling spoilt with her kindness, help and small touches in making the apartment a home away from home. Thanks Elle, Vanessa & Nathaniel Oct 2013
