Dollardstown House has been the family for over forty years. After a lot of hard work and dedication we have decided to re-open it as a Bed & Breakfast and revive this wonderful historic home.

Dollardstown House is sitting in 20 acres of mature parkland, making it a haven of tranquility. Although the parkland is grazed by cattle, most of the gardens can be enjoyed by our guests. The Behan family always were keen gardeners; Andrew is a horticulturalist. And it shows. There are many plants and trees to be enjoyed. Some trees have been around since the times of Napoleon! (Nelson’s ship fighting Napoleon was made partly with trees from Dollardstown.)

Be welcomed with home-made scones and tea / coffee. In the morning wake up to the smell of home-made bread and freshly ground coffee. Whether you prefer a full Irish or an extensive continental breakfast, you can expect locally sourced foods prepared with dedication. We are happy to cater for special diets on request.

Come and join us for a heartwarming break in Co. Kildare.

Guest access

You are welcome to relax in the drawing room by the fire if it is a chilly night. In keeping with the character of the historic place, this is also the only place in the house that has a TV.
If the Irish weather is kind to us, please do enjoy the gardens.
Breakfast is served in the dining room by a log fire.

Interaction with guests

Expect tea / coffee, home baking and a chat (if you're in for it) on arrival. Andrew will be happy to share some of his garden and local history knowledge with you.

Other things to note

Dollardstown House is most enjoyed by people who love peace and tranquility, historic buildings, a warm welcome and good honest food.

A&A were both very friendly and accommodating. The room was gorgeous, water pressure perfect, and plenty warm with the interior shutters closed. Breakfast was fantastic, they even had tasty veggie sausages for my vegetarian husband. Great dinner recommendation in town too. Thanks much!

My daughter and I stayed at Dollardstown House for one night en route to Dublin. It is a beautiful house and our room was lovely. Andrew and Antoinette were great hosts and made us very welcome in their home - good recommendations for where to eat out in the evening in Athy and a wonderful Irish breakfast in the morning. We would definitely like to come back again in the future.

The Dollardstown House is an absolutely beautiful, welcoming, and wonderful spot in Ireland that I am so grateful to have visited. I decided to venture out of Dublin for a few nights, and this area is only a 45 minute train and is a total hidden gem. Peace, quiet, farm animals, green grass, and a wonderful bed and breakfast. Antoinette & Andrew are excellent hosts who have mastered the art and science of accommodation. They made me a vegetarian Irish breakfast which was some of the best food I ate on my trip. The scones, freshly baked soda bread and Irish tea were also a highlight. My room was so comfortable and had all the necessary amenities including a great shower and lovely local shampoos. I got great sleep and enjoyed walking around the area and seeing the cows. As a solo traveler without a car, I will still able to get here (they called me a taxi to and from the train and I walked during the day) but most people here rent cars. Still a perfect option for a solo traveler wanting to see a different side of Ireland. Thank you so much, Andrew & Antoinette!

We had a lovely stay with Andrew and Antoinette. Their home is beautiful and we were made most welcome. Tea and scones in the drawing room on arrival was much appreciated after a long drive. The room is full of period charm and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and Andrew and Antoinette were perfect hosts. We would love to stay again and would highly recommend it to friends and family.
