JUST 20 MINUTES OUTSIDE OF DULUTH ON THE BORDER OF JAY COOKE STATE PARK. Enjoy this tranquil yurt nestled in the trees overlooking a farm field, providing a hybrid experience between camping and staying in a cabin, or ‘glamping’. You will be surrounded by nature and wildlife, sheltered by the canvas ‘yurt’ and sleeping in a comfortable bed. There is a small solar power system in the yurt and shared porta-potty (~100 yards from yurt). Potable drinking water provided.

The space
The "Hemlock Yurt" is a 20ft diameter (roughly 315sq ft) Colorado Yurt Co. yurt built on a solid insulated platform. It is located on the border of Jay Cooke state back, nestled in the trees overlooking a farm field. The Yurt is located a short walk (approximately 300 yards) from where you will be parking your car. A small cart is provided to bring your bags back to the yurt. If you are coming and going after dark, we recommend bringing a flashlight.

Please Note: This yurt has a propane stove that is used for heat only in the shoulder season months of May and October. It is disconnected and shut off June-Sept, as heat is not needed during these months.

About the Property: The property is a mix of fields & forest. It borders Jay Cooke State Park and neighboring farm fields.

WHAT TO EXPECT STAYING IN A YURT:
Our yurts provide a hybrid experience between camping and staying in a cabin, or ‘glamping’. Combining the best of both, your surrounded by nature and wildlife, sheltered by the canvas ‘yurt’ and sleeping in a comfortable bed ( bedding provided). A solar power battery provides power for ambient lighting, a place to charge phones and plug in provided fan. Potable water and a small washing station is provided just outside the yurt for hand washing/brushing teeth.

BATHROOM(PORTA-POTTY): The yurt doesn’t have a bathroom. There is a port-potty, approximately ~100 yards from yurt. This is shared with one other yurt on property. Behind each yurt we provide a jug of potable water for light washing and teeth brushing.

NO SHOWERS: there are NO showers on site. Guests often take advantage of the lakes and rivers in surrounding area to rinse off. There is a campground 10 minutes away, listed in our guidebook (on the airbb app), that offers coin op showers and is open to the public.

MEAL PLANNING/FOOD STORAGE/EATING:
Food is NOT permitted in yurts due to wildlife. Instead, we provide a unique communal space for those guests who would like to eat on site. We do find that most guest eat out, please check out our guidebook on the AirBNB app for local places to eat.

COMMUNAL SPACE (~400 yards from YURT)
This space is not a full kitchen. This is a dry, enclosed space with a stainless counter and refrigerator, suitable to store prepared foods you bring in. To supplement, a gas grill, next to fire pit, is also available for guests use. We recommend planning meals around these amenities. Cooking over fire ring is not permitted. We do not allow camp cook stoves, due to fire dangers.
Picnic tables and chairs surrounding fire pit, overlooking meadow provide a comfortable place to eat.
FIRE PIT: NO fire pits are located immediately at the yurts. Outside fires in the designated fire ring at the communal area are permitted only with host permission. (Weather/winds permitting). Wood is provided. Camp Cooking over fire pit is not permitted. S’mores only. Any fires must never be unattended (even for a minute), and must be fully extinguished after use using provided water. There is NO guarantee you will be able to have a fire during your stay.
