This fully self-contained 2 bedroom apartment is accessed via steps leading up to your private verandah with river views.

There is direct access to the adjoining nature reserve with a pretty walking trail. Tuggerah Lake is directly behind the property. There is a public jetty and boat ramp half way down the road. In room massage therapy available.

The space
This is the ideal location for couples or solo travellers looking to relax and unwind. Ideal for celebrating an anniversary or birthday.

Two single beds in the second bedroom make this ideal for young families.

If you are in the area for work, Pelican Riverside Retreat is the perfect place to unwind in at the end of the day. Also ideal if you are in the area for a wedding, sporting event or visiting friends and family.

We are just 10 minutes from the Pacific Highway and 15 minutes from the Wyong M1 turnoff, making this an ideal stop if you are travelling up or down the coast. We are at the end of a no-through road, just 15 minutes drive from shops and restaurants at Wyong and Tuggerah Westfield.


PLEASE NOTE: this is a non-smoking property. Smoking and vaping is not allowed anywhere on the property, including the balcony and garden. We also ask that noise is kept to a minimum after 10pm so as not to disturb the neighbours. There is a limited local bus service weekdays. Uber and taxis are available.


Pelican Riverside Retreat is equipped with all those little things to make your stay comfortable…

Wake up in the comfy queen bed to beautiful river views and enjoy the heated blanket on cooler nights. Bedroom two has two single beds (one is a trundle, close to the floor). (Please state when booking for two people if you will need a single bed made up.)

The kitchen has a full size fridge/freezer, oven and hob, microwave, toasted sandwich maker, rice cooker and air fryer. Provisions for breakfast (milk, juice, eggs and cereals) are provided. You will need to bring your own bread. Help yourself to any kitchen cupboard essentials. The kitchen is open plan to the living room with a breakfast bar.

The living room has a TV, Bluetooth speaker and record player with vinyl records to enjoy. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner, ceiling fan and dining table.

A bbq, table and chairs are on the verandah for guests’ exclusive use. This is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, with the morning sun filtering through the ghost gum and watching river life. Pelicans frequently fly up and down the river.

PLEASE NOTE: children must be supervised by an adult at all times as the property is unfenced and in close proximity of open water.

Indoor BBQing is not allowed.

Pelican Riverside Retreat is fully self-contained. Relax on your private verandah and enjoy the river views.

The front garden leads directly to the adjoining nature reserve where there is a public pathway taking you on a 10 minute walk to the end of the peninsula with stunning views across Tuggerah Lake to The Entrance. This makes for a perfect walk, especially at the end of the day. The lake has many beautiful black swans, pelicans and many other waterbirds, including the majestic snow-bellied sea eagle.

We welcome you to enjoy our back garden as well, which leads directly to the lake behind. Follow the tree line and pick up the path into the forest. We have placed a couple of seats on the lake shoreline for you to enjoy the serenity and watch the sunset.

Please avoid going under the house as we are undergoing renovations. Thank you : )

Other things to note
Our location is ideal for:

Kayaking, paddleboarding and boating. River access is from the public boat ramp half way down the road. And when the lake is high, there is direct access from the back of the garden for kayaking.

Bird watching. As well as kookaburras and rainbow lorikeets, we are surrounded by many beautiful water birds including pelicans, black swans, brolgas, jabirus and the white-bellied sea eagle. You may spot a Sydney fruit bat flying over at night.

Fishing. The river is teeming with fish - mullet, bream, tailor and flathead (and many others), as well as prawns, crabs and eel. Please note NSW fishing licence required.

Nature photography. This is a photographer’s paradise! At the beginning of the road is the popular Central Coast Wetlands Pioneer Dairy, which nature photographers flock to! This is a beautiful place to walk or cycle around on the creek side pathways, taking in the historic buildings.

Artists, we can provide easels, and are happy for you to set up in the garden.

Writers. Be inspired by the beautiful surrounds!

Yoga (yoga mats are provided). Take in the calm, peaceful environment from the verandah or in the garden behind with the lake view 🙏

Professional portrait photography is available. As well as being a massage therapist, your host Emma is a trained award-winning photographer. Portrait sessions take place by the lake/nature reserve and start from $150 for two people. This is a lovely way to celebrate a special occasion.

Massage (your host Emma is a certified massage therapist).
If you would like to book a massage with Emma, please message before your stay if possible. The massage studio can be set up in the apartment's second bedroom, or in the apartment living area. You can book a relaxing 30 minute Swedish massage which covers the shoulders, neck, scalp and back at the discounted price of $50, or a remedial massage tailored to treat a specific condition, also 30 minutes at $50. 60 minutes also available for $80.

Cycling (you will need to bring your own) - Cycle down the road to the Pioneer Dairy, and link up with the public lakeside cycle paths across the river. The Central Coast Mountain Bike Club Trail (Ourimbah Mountain Bike Park) is just a 15-minute drive away (located behind Treetops).

The Pioneer Dairy and Wetlands are at the beginning of the street and have a walking trail taking you through the historic property. This is a great place for exploring on bike as well as walking.

Boating. You are welcome to bring your own boat on a trailer, or even a caravan. There is parking in the driveway.

Commercial photography. We welcome all enquires for commercial photography and filming. If you would like to hire the space for this purpose, please message us direct as bookings for this is via another booking platform.



We are a family home and are generally quite quiet. We have added soundproofing to the locked adjoining door to minimise noise, and we are respectful of our guests' privacy.

We open up the calendar bookings 3 months in advance. If there is a particular date you are interested in, please message with an enquiry.

In Pelican Riverside Retreat you will find board games, DVDs, a Bluetooth speaker, a retro style record player (LPs provided) as well as magazines, books and maps of the local area. We also provide a picnic backpack and picnic rug.

There is free Wi-Fi. Towels and bedlinen are all provided. Baby bath, high chair and Portacot are available free of charge on request. Please note to enter the shower you will need to step into the half-size bathtub, which is ideal for bathing small children.

Please note: access to the property may be restricted due to flooding after prolonged rain. We will endeavour to keep you updated if you have booked during this weather event.

Neighborhood highlights

We are located in the small riverside community of Tacoma South on the Central Coast of NSW, 5 kms from the Pacific Highway. Once you turn off the highway, you are entering another world with beautiful forest nature reserves, wetlands, the Wyong River and the serenity of Tuggerah Lake. Enjoy the beauty of birdsong all around.

Central Coast Wetlands and Pioneer Dairy, historic site with creek walks and perfect for watching pelicans and many other wetlands birds, less than a 10 minute drive away. This is also a wedding venue. Mark Churcher Golf Range also located here, at the beginning of South Tacoma Road, just off the Pacific Highway. You will pass the entry on the way to your accommodation.

Alison Homestead, a local history museum in Wyong is a 15 minute drive away and is a treasure trove of historic buildings, including a recreated school room. The gardens are beautiful and perfect for a picnic.

The Milk Factory at Wyong, also a 15 minute drive away is housed in an original dairy, with cafe, tavern, cheese shop, and Luka Chocolate factory and shop, as well as a gym and boat hire. This is a great place to take the kids and enjoy an evening meal.

Enjoy an evening at one of the many local theatres, including the Arthouse in Wyong village.

Treetops Adventure Central Coast is 15 minutes drive away, as is Amazement Fun and Farm Park.

Norah Head Lighthouse and beaches 30 minute drive away.

Wyong train station on the mainline Sydney to Newcastle line, 10 minutes drive away.

Local shops, cafes and Coles in Wyong village, 10 minute drive away. Our favourite cafe in Wyong is Duck Duck Moose, perfect for morning coffee or lunch. The popular Siam Terrace Thai restaurant is located next door.

Westfield Tuggerah with a huge range of retail shops, cinema and restaurants and cafes, 15 minutes drive away.
